Good feed for wild birds
I use millet for ground-feeding birds such as mourning doves, juncos, small gray birds I can't identify, and others that normally can't or don't go to my squirrel-proof feeder which hangs on a post. The birds seem to like the millet and eat it up rapidly. Fortunately, squirrels apparently do not like millet and do not eat it, which is a great benefit because the squirrels ravishly eat up other foods like sunflower chips and even safflower seeds which some brands claim that squirrels won't eat. When I scatter only millet on the ground the squirrels stay away; if I forget and put other feed on the ground, I have to repeatedly chase the squirrels away, which gets to be very annoying. As anyone who has squirrels coming around knows, they are very persistent.
