Flimsy
Seems like good quality, but the tip broke off within the first 30 low powered casts with a 20g lure.

The KastKing Blackhawk II Telescopic Fishing Rods are designed to be compact and portable, making them ideal for fishing on the go. The Blackhawk II series is a new and improved version of the original Blackhawk series, featuring upgraded materials and a sleek, modern design. One of the most notable features of the Blackhawk II rods is their telescopic design. These rods can be collapsed down to a very compact size, making them easy to transport and store. This is especially useful for anglers who like to travel or who don't have a lot of storage space for their fishing gear. When fully extended, the Blackhawk II rods are just as strong and durable as traditional one-piece rods. Another great feature of the Blackhawk II rods is their versatility. These rods are available in a variety of lengths and power ratings, so there is a Blackhawk II rod to suit almost any fishing style. Whether you're targeting small panfish or big game fish, there is a Blackhawk II rod that will work for you. The rods are also designed to be used with a variety of fishing lines, from light monofilament to heavy braided lines. The Blackhawk II rods are also built to be strong and durable. The blank is made from high-quality graphite, which provides excellent sensitivity and strength. The guides are made from stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion and rust. The reel seat is also made from high-quality materials, ensuring that your reel will stay securely attached to the rod. One thing to note about the Blackhawk II rods is that they do have a bit of a learning curve. Because they are telescopic, they may take some getting used to if you're used to traditional one-piece rods. However, once you get the hang of them, they are a joy to use. The telescopic design allows you to cast with precision and accuracy, and the sensitivity of the graphite blank allows you to feel every bite. In terms of price, the Blackhawk II rods are very affordable. They are priced competitively with other telescopic rods on the market, but they offer better quality and performance than many other options. If you're on a budget but still want a high-quality fishing rod, the Blackhawk II series is definitely worth considering. Overall, the KastKing Blackhawk II Telescopic Fishing Rods are an excellent choice for anglers who want a compact, portable rod without sacrificing performance. These rods are versatile, strong, and affordable, making them a great option for both beginners and experienced anglers alike. If you're in the market for a new fishing rod, the Blackhawk II series is definitely worth checking out.

Update: Performed great, until it broke at the tip on the first trip. Had a blast casting with this from shore as the extra foot made a nice difference vs my other travel rods, however the fiberglass tip near end splintered at some point (didn't actually catch anything so not sure how this happened--reading the other reviews it seems like maybe this is just a flaw in the manufacturing or design). Hoping KastKing can improve on this as all of their other products have really been stellar in my experience. Note: Haven't had the chance to try it out on the water yet, but will add to this review when I do. Much nicer quality than the other travel rods you typically see here on Amazon from the likes of Plusinno or other manufacturers like that. I would expect as much, as KastKing has delivered a ton of value to my fishing and my son's. We're big fans of their reels and fishing accessories as they're always a good price and perform well--we'll try anything they make. This is out first rod from them. Nice lightweight graphite feel and EVA handle pieces are well positioned and sized. Reel seat can get nice and tight and doesn't slip. The eyelets are bigger and look more high quality (stainless?) than my other travel rods and the guard they provide to protect them during travel feels robust. Only concern, that I have yet to vet, is that because this is longer than your typical 6'6" rod (I got the 7'0"), it may not fit as well in a suitcase or in a rod holder on a backpack. You can see in my photo that when setup, the real will set above the buckle on my KastKing sling back, wheres with a more compact travel rod the reel would sit secured between the buckle and the rod pocket. Not a deal breaker, but need to make sure it stays put if carried at an angle or take the reel off for longer hikes to the water. All that said, the longer length does means longer casting so the travel issues might be well worth it. Will be beach fishing with this in May and can't wait to try it out!

This is not the highest-end, most durable rod out there, but good enough for casual anglers, travelers, or as a convenient backup. Its portability, balanced build, and surprising versatility make it a strong choice if you want a rod thatโs easy to carry and reasonably capable. But if you want long-term heavy use, maximum sensitivity, or big-fish performance, you might want to get a solid fishing rod. This is perfect for what it is. I keep mine in the camper at all times just in case for those spontaneous fishing adventures.

So, I was a bit skeptical of this before I received it. I wasn't sure it would stand up to the manufacturer's statements. So here is my experience. First, the packaging was wonderful. It was in a really cool box and inside they put a hard cover over the guides. I don't know if it was just for shipping purposes, but I'm keeping it as it has a rubber strap that holds it in place that's detachable. Next, the extension. So, by the instructions, you extend from the base, which I did. Super quick and easy. The floating guides are cool as they slide until they are in the correct position. The guides are slick. It almost seems like the inside of them is a ceramic. That's how smooth and polished they are. Mounting the reel was no issue as it mounts like all other rods. Now, the best part, using it. The handle is super comfortable with a corked bottom. The weight is probably the defining feature, probably. It's super light. For a 7' rod, I was blown away. The model I have is a medium with a fast action. And the tip is exactly that. Super responsive. So, remember when I said, probably. Well, it's sort of a tie between the weight and the strength. This thing pulled in a 3lb with very little effort. I was concerned that I would have an issue at one of the joints with twisting while I fought it, but nope. Guides stayed aligned and all was perfect. The length helped bring my catch in the boat easier. I highly recommend this rod.
