I have been using this product for years. Core an onion insert butter salt and pepper in core. Place in onion cooker. Microwave 5 mins. Makes a delicious side to a steak.

Onions are so good cooked in these

My late FIL taught me how to wrap red onions in foil after liberally adding butter and seasoning(s), then grill on a bbq. I saw these onion cookers for the same cooking method but in a microwave and was both intrigued and skeptical, reading the mixed reviews, though they were mostly good. I purchased a pair and tried it. My entire family devoured it! I'm so glad it was just an experimental veggie side dish to try. The only minor downside is the cooker limits the size of the onion, especially if you buy the onions from a Club Store. I have had to remove an extra layer of the onion in order for it to fit the container. But even with a tight fit, the onion cooks beautifully with no scorch marks on either the onion or the plastic. These cookers are a really good substitute for cooking onions easily and quickly without the hassle of grilling them.
