I found that the price varies depending on who is selling and from where you buy them. I paid $17.00 for one and $13 for a second, exactly the same brand but from different sellers, (I believe). They are well made, die-cast aluminum with appropriate seals, hence explosion proof. The glass globe is done well and the protective globe cover grill is heavy and well proportioned. Overall, the quality is very good, especially for the price. I purchased the gray powder-coated version and am very happy with them. I used them in my garage when I wire it up last summer adding power outlets (11) with awesome lighting. These two units work from one switch supplying adequate lighting with 75 Watt clear incandescent bulbs for the proper look and I installed (2) other 8-foot LED tube fixtures on pull chain switches to help when I need the extra light for projects. I wired through EMT to gain a very industrial-commercial-factory look. These light fixtures topped off the project perfectly. I love them and am very glad I went with them. I will send photos to anyone wanting to see the installation. In summary: One heck of a nice assembly! Can't beat the price either. Before receiving these, I was worried they'd be only concerned about the looks, but they ended up being actually good quality, well-made lamps. I like that they directly take 1/2" conduit - no need for a round box underneath.

These are sturdy, high quality lights. I mounted a pair of them in my garage ceiling because my kids are always throwing tennis balls around and I wanted to protect the naked light bulbs. Besides, I really like the industrial look these fixtures provide. My only complaint is the instruction manual, which did not make clear that in order to mount these to drywall ceilings and a conventional 4-inch round electrical box, the top part of the light fixture housing must be removed. That's probably obvious to experienced electricians, but not to a first-timer. When I initially tried to mount the fixture, I quickly realized the two screw holes have a 5-inch spread and won't mate to a 4-inch round electrical box. At first, I thought I had to purchase some sort of an adapter to make it fit, but upon closer inspection, I realized I had to unscrew a pair of set screws on the inside of the upper housing and remove the conduit-accepting upper part of the fixture to reveal a conventional 4-inch mount. But, that fact was not obvious to me without some poking around. There is no information about it in the instructions, so I wasted more time that I care to admit. The electrical connections were easy and straightforward, but if you're like me and have never hung one of these before, just know that the instructions don't volunteer much in the way of helpful information. In hindsight, it's clear that the upper housing that I removed is meant for securing it to masonry or a stud for security purposes and to make it vandal-proof.

I ordered a few of these for everyones favorite project. first 3 arrived in a box with other parts and are perfect, ordered one more and it arrived with a chip in the threaded portion, amazon sent a replacement and it too arrived chipped in 2 places in the threaded portion! be fine if I wasnt trying to sell these things. 3rd times the charm... EDIT: no idea what amazon is doing - 3rd one arrived with a shippign label slapped on the product box. Dang near fell out and is cracked down the side... As for the light itself for the price its fine. The cage is a bit rough cast with alot of burrs. The glass globe is really wavey and the threads dont really mesh well with the housing which is part of the reason for the chips i think and mainly rough handling. The threaded conduit holes are nicely threaded and that portion is great. The light bulb socket is ceramic if anyone is wondering. it does have a green grounding screw included and is already threaded grounding hole.

For years, I lived with a measly, single unhoused bulb in my garage which not only created a cave-like environment but risked bulb breakage when carrying around tall objects. I decided to fix this once and for all with three of these Designers Edge fixtures. These fixtures are rock solid and indestructible. The steel cage protects the thick tempered glass which by itself would be difficult to break. The industrial design nicely complements my tool-filled garage. I first installed 3 round junction boxes distributed evenly in my ceiling framing. My ceiling is unfinished and these fixtures have screw spacing that is too far apart to mount directly onto round junction boxes. My solution to this was to install 6"W x 24"L plywood to span the ceiling joists and cover the junction boxes. I cut a hole in the plywood to feed the wiring through. The fixtures were then easily mounted onto the plywood. Now I have 3 x 100 watt bulbs (CFL's work too) in unbreakable housing to illuminate my garage and it is great! I also put in a motion detector switch so I don't even need to turn the lights on or off.

Going on a year and a half now - no problems or complaints at all, except for the mud daubers but not the fixture's fault, right? And I didn't like that the retailer would allow only 1 sold at a time (even though i only needed 1, I still didn't like that). Very simple to install; love the small footprint; mine's installed horizontally on 2x8 bracing under our patio awning. It's safe from any direct rainfall but still manages to get damp, but the casing seems solid and well sealed - no signs of any drips or leaks. My favorite feature is its capacity to easily handle 100W incandescent bulbs, which we have an old big box of, and since we don't use this light but maybe a couple of hours in a week, it's a great way to use them up. Very bright! I haven't had to change a bulb yet so i don't know how easy that'll be after sitting so long. But at the time I installed it, everything was a great fit and worked fine..

Great vapor tight for the price. Just what was needed to cure neighbors lighting issue under deck.
