Dritz Styling Design Ruler Rulers & Accessories, Clear, 1Pack

This is a transparent ruler, perfect for anyone who sews, quilts, or crafts. It's printed with a 1/8-inch grid, so you can measure both width and length, which is fantastic. (I have another transparent ruler that does not have a grid, and it's so much harder to measure seam allowances with.)I ordered this to replace my old ruler, which is getting pretty dinged up and faded. What I received must be an upgraded version, because it's different from my old ruler---in a good way! The grid and numbers are a darker shade of blue, which makes them a lot easier to see. The numbers along one edge are much larger, which makes them easier to see. No more squinting at the ruler, trying to read the tiny, faded numbers! Also, there are small holes running down the entire length of the ruler, which allows you to use it to draw circles. Just place a pin in one of the holes---whichever one is at the measurement equal to the radius of the circle you want to draw---and then place your pencil at the short edge, and pivot the ruler, drawing your circle.The drawback is, the small holes make it impossible to use a suction-cup handle with this ruler. When you're cutting with a rotary cutter, you need a sturdy ruler that you can anchor in place with a suction-cup handle. (The handle raises your hand above the ruler, so you won't slice your fingers if you accidentally slip with the rotary cutter. They're VERY sharp!) Well, unfortunately, the small holes prevent the suction cup from adhering to the ruler. So it won't work for cutting bias strips with a rotary cutter. But that's a minor inconvenience, unless you were hoping to get away with only having one all-purpose ruler.I also appreciate that the new ruler has numbers oriented in both directions, so you don't have to turn the ruler the other way just to read the numbers. (Unless it's upside-down, in which case, the numbers will be backwards and yes, you'll have to turn it over.) But with my old ruler, I was always having to rotate it the other way, just so I could read the numbers. No more! And, as a bonus, the new ruler has a hole at one end, which allows you to hang it from a hook.In short, I'm extremely pleased with this ruler! It's so much easier to use than my old one. I'll give it five stars and heartily recommend it to anyone who sews, quilts, or crafts. It's great for measuring fabric, drafting patterns, and so forth.P.S. This ruler is perfect for sewing and other projects, easy to use, and a good price. I do wish it was longer but I love it. I brought two.

This is the thickest clear plastic Curve I've ever seen. (It's almost twice as thick as some of the cheap ones.) And it's marked in INCHES, INCHES, INCHES ......most of the others on Amazon are only marked in centimeters. The printing is easy to read from both sides, even from a distance so I don't have to crane my neck. And the markings are RED so you can see them even on BLACK fabric.NB. I was thinking about buying an aluminum Curve because durability is an issue. After seeing this one, I'm glad I didn't because it's certainly stronger than the other clear-plastic ones I've seen & transparency is a big help. I've been happy with most of Dritz's products & this is no exception. This one is definitely worth the money.
