how wide is the bottom base? will I be able today keep 1 or 2 avocados on it (additional to the bananas)

the base is 7" around and slightly rounded. If you have big bananas it may not hold 2 avacados. but it does a great job keeping the bananas fresh and very nice looking in the kitchen.

Any chemical materials used on surface or glued to make it?

Doesn’t look like and chemicals on the surface.

Could I use it to hold my headphones?

it should hold your headphones just fine. it might last longer as they are not as heavy as bananas. the arm separates from the base under wieght

What is the clearance between the hook and the base? I'm thinking of using the stand for headphones too but the hook looks pretty long.

Don't know what size your headphones are but there's 7" between bottom of hook and base which, by the way, is too little for most bananas.
