Doesn’t recognize any plugged in usb devices
This usb host shield doesn’t recognize the iPad mini. As you can see the iPad is in DFU mode, as it should be. The voltage across the 5V line to the usb port is over 5V which is fine I think but across the 3.3 volt line one one side it’s close to 6V and across the other side it’s almost 5V. I tried everything to get it working and recognize the iPad mini but it doesn’t. I also tried with a mouse and also with a keyboard without success. I really don’t know anything regarding the chips on this board but I think that first review about the incorrect chip on this board is correct. Ill see if the seller will contact me and send me a working board. If not I will have to return this one for a full refund.

Wrong IC used as level shifter
This shield uses the 74hc125 to accomplish logic level shifting. The 74hc125 is not the correct device to translate from 5v to 3.3v. if you find your self beating your head against the wall measure your voltage on the 3.3v pin. If it is greater than 3.3v then the max3421 will not detect most devices.
