Smaller hinge then expected - stronger then it looks
I purchased this thinking it was a large circle at the end that i could use for lifting my 4kg crucible, but when it arrived i found the end was only able to get 2-3" wide of an opening. however i realized i could use it to safely pull my crucibles out of my foundry by gripping the lip of the crucible and pulling straight up.I now use it to lift an 8kg crucible full of copper! it has no issue handling the weight and has been up against some decent abuse with only a little bend in the bars (less then an inch). I might not be able to pour with them, but i'm happy to sit 30+ inches away from my foundry that gets above 2200 degrees!

I didn’t read thoroughly so I’m a little disappointed with the size
Tongs are 36 inches long and that’s what I like about them but the grabbing end is tiny and the handles are flemsy. I think it’s worth 3 stars so that’s what I gave it. Even tho I didn’t read close enough and it’s my fault that these tongs won’t pick up my heavy crucible I think $60. bucks is a little ridiculous for what you get.

Very Effective for Glass-melting
Inexpensive, yet up to the task of handling 5 kg crucibles at 2400 degrees Fahrenheit, over & over again. A great value. . .

Best tool ever!!!
When I saw it I said this isn't going to work. It not only worked, it worked very well. This tool is my every day foundry tool.

Perfect for a 3Kg Crucible
I couldn't imagine lifting a 3Kg Crucible with anything less than this, it's a good pair of tongs. I have used for several Aluminum pourings and never an issue or concern grabbing and lifting the molten metal with these!
