I am a natural strawberry-blonde although the color is now faded w/ some white hairs. For a couple of years I used a cassia/henna blend of 75/25 and over time it became darker than I wanted and over the last year, I did root touch-ups with boxed dye. Matching my childhood hair color has been difficult though this is the closest I have come to what it was like in the winter. (lighter in the summer). I missed how the cassia/henna blend made my hair feel - so full, soft, and a natural anti-frizz. (much needed for my course hair). I ordered 200 grams Cassia by Zenia and added just 2 tsp of henna that I had on hand. 100% natural, no chemicals, salts, etc... added is very important! I mixed in with little cranberry juice and warm distilled water. I let it oxidize for about 10 hours and left it on for 3 hours before rinsing. I ended up with enough left over to put in the freezer for a root touch up in a few weeks. I absolutely love, love, love the results!! The cassia did not lighten my darker ends (which I did not expect anyway) though any little whites are blended in as a golden blonde/honey wheat color. I had forgotten how much I missed doing Cassia/henna! Cassia is a fantastic natural conditioner with or without henna. I will definately be ordering again!! :)

Yes, like henna, it is green, messy, and smells like a crushed forest just seeped into your house. Yes, you must spend time allowing the dye to release before applying. Yes, it takes a very long time (4+hours) and multiple applications to get any hint of blonde on grey hair. (If you are going for no color change, you only need to leave it on until it starts to dry a bit--45 min to an hour.) Yes, you must rinse every single green particle out and condition well for it to not feel a bit dry at first. (That isn't dry hair, it is poorly rinsed residue of cassia sticking to your hair!) Yes, it makes hair stronger and shinier. So why 5 stars? Because I have used herbal hair dye for decades and knew exactly what kind of hard work I had signed up for. This is only different from other products in that it is finely milled and fresh. If you are up for the rigors of herbal haircolor, this is good stuff!

I like using Chassis as I'm not a fan of the red color that henna gives to the hair. I use with indigo powder to darken my hair. I mix Chassis and lemon juice till mixture is like cake batter. I let mixture sit overnight. The next day I mix indigo add water to mix, then I add one tbs amps powder, aloe Vera powder, fenugreek powder, neem powder and finally argan oil (any oil of your choice. Mix well and apply to your hair and let sit for 5 hours. Rinse very well. I have waist length hair so this process takes a long time. I have to cowash to make sure mixture is completely out of my hair Ensure that the water rinses clear. I wash my hair before my treatment and the mixture is easier to apply if your hair is wet. The amounts will vary depending on your hair length and density but I used half package of chassis and half indigo. My hair got darker with some golden highlights. Wash day is the entire day for me but I will do again because it's healthier for my hair. I looked at videos on YouTube for inspiration.

I have been using Cassia Obovata off and on for 30 years. It definitely brings out the shine, makes my thin frizzy hair flow and my grey strands shimmer, I really love the look and feel. A few tips: You don't want to use Cassia after stripping your hair too harshly, otherwise it will feel dry for a week or two after application, if your hair is dry, it will stay dry or even feel worse. Cassia coats and seals the hair cuticles, making moisturizing your strands much more difficult after treatment, but if you start with healthier feeling hair, your hair should feel amazing after the application and lasts for weeks. Have your hair in good shape before hand, but don't condition right before applying Cassia, something like a gentle clarifying shampoo if you have build. Be sure your shampoo does not contain any silicones, they also seal the hair cuticles and build up over time and will not allow Cassia to stick. I have hard well water so use shampoo for hard water prior to applying Cassia. The Zenia Cassia Obovata has been working great on my hair.

This is my favorite mask to cover greys, thicken and grow hair, and get so much shine. I have used cassia with a touch of henna for years now, with not so great consistency, and my hair is so thick and healthy and growing like a weed! Try it if you want healthy thick and shiny hair!!
