I’m very impressed with the TayMac MM420C 1-Gang Extra Duty Weatherproof In-Use Cover. It’s built with strong, high-impact polycarbonate, so it feels very durable and able to handle harsh outdoor conditions without cracking or fading. One of the best features is the “in-use” design—you can keep something plugged in while the cover stays closed and protected from rain. The 16-in-1 configuration makes it super versatile and compatible with different outlet types, including GFCI setups. Installation was quick and easy thanks to the keyhole mounting system, and it can be mounted either horizontally or vertically depending on your setup. The clear cover is also a nice touch—you can easily see the outlet status without opening it. Overall, it’s a reliable, heavy-duty solution for protecting outdoor electrical outlets. Highly recommended for anyone needing a safe and durable weatherproof cover.

Installed this over a 1-gang exterior box and it’s exactly what you want for an in-use cover. The housing is solid, seals well, and doesn’t feel like brittle plastic that’s going to crack the first cold winter. The horizontal/vertical mounting flexibility is a big plus, and there’s plenty of room inside for cords without forcing the cover or stressing the seal. Gasket fits properly, screws tighten evenly, and everything lines up the way it should — no fighting it during install. Rated Extra Duty for a reason. Once it’s mounted, it stays closed, stays sealed, and does its job. Costs a little more than the cheap covers, but this is one of those “buy it once” items that’s worth it. Would absolutely use these again.

Does the job, and is deep enough to even hold a usb charger cube. The only drawback I see is that it only is capable of opening on one side. I would have liked to be able to switch the hinge to the opposite site (there are some that allows this). It was easy to install and you don't have to completely pull out the socket to install the cover, becuase it has a slotted opening that allows you to slip it over the existing screws.

It took me like 5 minutes per outlet to put these on! These are so simple to install and were a perfect fit for my outside outlet boxes. I love the fact that they have latched lids, and the removeable slot cover to have a cord plugged in with the lid closed is an excellent feature! For no more than these cost... they are a great value!

I’m a 64 year old woman who knows only enough about electrical work to shut off a breaker and change an outlet. I became a little concerned about purchasing this cover after reading a few reviews from people who said they had difficulty. I’m glad I purchased 2 of them anyway. They come with everything you need, including parts you can change out to fit your outlet or switch. It’s easy (with a little force) to push the hinge pin out and move it to either the top or side, depending on your needs. After installing the first one I learned that it’s better to start your screws and THEN slip the outlet cover over the screws before tightening. Those with more experience than me would say “duh” to that since it’s quite obvious the holes on the box are made for that, but I wasn’t that bright the first time around. Just thought I’d mention it for others like me. Very simple, took little time, and there’s a nice tight fit that appears to be good and waterproof. Recommend and will buy again.

A good solution for a more robust child-proof electrical outlet. Most AU outlet plates will be too big to fit inside so some DIY modifications are required. I recommend using low-profile outlets to maximize cable clearance.

Needed a replacement for my septic tank plugs. Easy to replace and now protected.
