Pricey but makes a very aggressive non-skid
Its not cheap. You have to pour a ton onto wet gelcoat then let all of it sit until the gelcoat is hard. Patting it, sweeping it or messing with it at all before the gelcoat is 100% hard makes a worse surface. After the gelcoat hardens, you sweep up the rest and save it because you can re-use what isn't glued-in. Then roll a very thin layer of gelcoat over the top. The result is coarser than 40 grit sandpaper and extremely grippy. I am frequently alone on the boat, so falling overboard is a big deal. I wouldn't use anything but this for my nonskid deck.

Rubber sand
Bought to create non slip on a yacht. Bit expensive for such a small amount. Soft sand would have done the same much cheaper.

AMAZING for stairs
This stuff saved my sanity. I just bought a townhouse from, let’s say, a very ~eclectic~ seller. He had painted the stairs with a bright red high-gloss paint, and they were a) a death trap waiting to happen, and b) way too slippery for my dog. She became a nervous wreck and made my life very hard for a couple of weeks with her nonstop panic. Enter google, and I found this lifesaver. I used the sprinkle method - primer, paint, sprinkle while still wet (kind of like glitter), let dry and sweep off excess, paint, paint. It worked like a charm! The stairs are now super nonslip and I’m not cleaning up nervous dog doo three times a day. I used a full bag on the full set of stairs and went very heavy-handed, and it was exactly enough. 10/10, could not have worked any better.

Great Product - Way overpriced!!!
Used 2 -16oz containers to cover my 18 foot center console (floors and decks only) The results were great; We used the product in gelcoat on the floor and topside paint on the decks. Honestly the results were better in the paint than the gelcoat. My only complaint is that this product is way OVERPRICED!!! This is a simple rubberized particle, probably made from a by-product. $50 per 16oz is robbery. If I had to do this project again, I would look into other options.

Good for boat non-slip
Bought the SoftSand pint bag for a recent boat remodel project I'm working on. I mixed it directly into my Pettit Paint single-part EZ-Poxy polyurethane topiside paint. The mixing went well. Applied with a foam roller and the granules suspended long enough to apply to the boat what I mixed. Floor looks good -- anxious to take it to the lake now! If/when I do another boat floor remodel, I would cut in 1/3 or 1/2 the amount used suggested in the directions. I found it to be a heavy mixture of granules vs. paint ratio. Lots of SoftSand left-over in my roller tray.
