House remodel with Doug Fir beams, Cedar tongue and groove, and facia + cedar fence
My designer found this product on-line in preparation for a home remodel where I wanted to get a rustic/aged look while also providing protection from weather on interior and exterior 6x14 Doug Fir beams and cedar tongue and groove ceilings and facia. This product doesn't have multiple color options. Here is an update on two projects: 1) 300+ Ft of new cedar fencing (applied one year ago). This was the test for the home wood needs. Sprayed with 5 gal backpack sprayer. One coat and NO tint. I was looking for the silver patina look. The first photo shows new fence on left and 10yr old fence on right that was already pretty aged. The new cedar has a more brownish look than I desired, however, I really like how it turned out. I did apply to existing fence too (right side of photo) and there wasn't a noticeable color change to my eye... 2) House- Photo 2 & 3 are exterior Doug Fir, Cedar facia and Cedar T&G. Photo 4 is interior same wood type. Applied one week ago (7-2022) OK, this is going to be a lot of details. The two wood types are different grain etc and it gave me the variation I was looking for. 1) I test sprayed interior Doug Fir beam that was going to be dry-walled as a test (I was concerned about how this would react with Doug Fir). We felt the color was too green. Designer brought me some CCE Maroon tint (i think it's Sherman Williams tint they use to custom color paint). This tint is very concentrated and the goal was to eliminate the green on DF. 2) I kept cuttings of DF and Cedar T&G to sample with. Started with 1 quart sample with 1 tablespoon of tint. Very red. Took a 1/8 tspn measuring spoon and put 8 drops into one quart. Not 8 1/8 tspoons. I let the tint drip from the end. Too red. Went to 4 and landed on 2 drops/qrt. Tested on DF beams that would be drywalled and cutting samples. 3) Cutting samples left in the sun for days/weeks. Ended up with final product 2 drops/qrt. 4) Bought Ryobi One electric 1 gallon sprayer because the ceiling was high and I didn't was to pump. Mixed 5 gallon Eco with 8 drops per gallon tint in 5 gal bucket. Used this to fill the sprayer. Used 9 gallons and it took about 3 hours of spraying on a ladder. Very happy with final color after just one week. I expect it to continue to change over time. I am concerned about a few of the beams that are exposed about 10" so I am putting 2" copper cap on them. As to the protective nature of this product, only time will tell but I will be keeping an eye on it.

Performs as advertised
Product did as advertised. Pretty amazing, really. Our cedar deck turned a nice shade of light brown. Went on easy; cleaned up easy. Weโll have to wait and see if it actually preserves the wood and turns silver like it promises.

Great product!!!
This product is wonderful. We used the silver grey shade and it is a beauty. We prepped with some sanding after several months of wood being in the sun. Non toxic, safe, easy to apply. Hope it lasts a long time.

Great product!
I like the looks of the wood after this treatment. I am applying the non-tinted treatment to a log cabin and it looks great. It is easy to spray and I put citronella oil in the mixture to deter carpenter bees.

Dont use on decor.
Works good for wood fences, aging is normal, but the dye goes hard and is useless

Amazing Results!!
So, I've got the French Country look going on here, inside and out...and I'm serious about it - it's my passion....we had to get a new fence and my husband built a shed (more like a mini storage unit) out of Western Red Cedar (fairly certain that's the correct species). Anyway, it will eventually silver out....in a couple of years...could not stand looking at the raw, bright wood - it looks like a salmon fillet, already! Came across Eco Wood, and was thoroughly intrigued. It was hard to tell what result I was going to get because the pictures didn't label the species and it wasn't clear if some of the examples showed the tinted product....called the company to ask a quick question about the results on cedar and they never returned my call - that was a bit annoying, but, I proceeded anyway. Sprayed the salmon fillet shed and by morning, wango - tango, the shed is gorgeous!!!! It looks like it's been there forever and the color is to die for!!! I used a garden sprayer because the shed is board and batten and it would have been too tedious to do with a brush...it doesn't go as far as it would had I rolled/brushed it, so keep that in mind when you're estimating how much you'll need...I missed a few spots, but, kept some in reserve, as suggested. Any spots I did miss and touched up, blended perfectly - no spots or overlap marks...it's amazing!! The fence is next...I can't say enough about this product - I love it...my husband is concerned I'm going to be spraying anything and everything....and once again, he's right!!! Check out the pictures - you can see the shed next to the fence - the shed was the exact same color as the fence - the shed looks a little darker in the one photo with the fence - the other photo is a better representation - shed is wet on the lower 2/3....Northwest rain!

My favorite stain
I love eco wood. I use it on all my builds. Goes on very easily with a sprayer and makes the wood look aged.

Easy to work with.
Just finished dipping my beehives I this solution. It was easy to mix and soak them in a plastic container before assembling. Has a beautiful finish. As to the endurance of this treatment, time will surely tell.

Easy to apply and rapid ages look on western red cedar shingle siding
I used the product on western red cedar siding. So far I am satisfied. I thought it would be interesting to show the effect on the cedar. The first two pictures show the difference of treated and untreated cedar. The lower part had been treated a few weeks before these photos have been taken while the upper part are untreated shingles that had been newly installed. The 2nd and 3rd pictures show the color change 24 hours after application (top) compared to 6 weeks after treatment (bottom). I decided to use this product in order to darken the red cedar as well as to control the aging process. Unfortunately cedar tends to age very unevenly depending on water and sun exposure. My decision to use eco wood treatment was made in the premise that this product allows me to enforce a more even aging process and to darken the shingles in a short time. The alternative would have been paint or stain with all its associated issues regarding peeling, maintenance etc. I was close to going with a dark stain and to do this properly I would have dipped and brushed each shingle individually ore install in order to get the best technical result (testing only on the visible side will lead more rapidly to peeling and decay as humidity can travel from the untreated side through the wood). Dipping and painting about 7k shingles would have been a lot of work, complexity and cost. Eco wood treatment is super easy and done with a ladder and sprayer in no time. I did invest in a battery powered sprayer (Makita) which proved invaluable over the manual pump and spray I used for the first trial. In summary: so far so good!

Generally satisfied
I've always wondered how exactly this stuff works. But so far it has worked well. It does give the wood the sort of silvery grey look that aging would impart. My wooden planters have held up well so far - though I haven't put it to severe test with termites and such.

Easy and effective
We were pleasantly surprised. It was easy to apply with a sprayer. Nice silver barnwood look. Six months later it looks great.

Best stain
Only exterior stain I use now. I have used on new wood and previously stained wood which has been sanded down to bare wood. Stain does not peel. Just wash and restain in subsequent years.
