Perfect for Candles
This stearic acid hardens really easily, so just be aware of that when you use it. The material is naturally waxy and crumbly. It works especially well for hardening candles, and it keeps the ingredients together well. It keeps products hard and solid. I just used it in my soy wax candles with essential oils, rose petals powder, mica, rose petals, and pink himalayan salt. It works beautifully!

We use this to dispose of used cooking oil and it works great (and cheaply)!
You may have seen commercial products that you can mix with used cooking oil to solidify it for disposal - well, virtually all of them have stearic acid as their primary, and sometimes only, ingredient. I have a stainless steel filtered gallon container that I use to keep oil for deep frying re-use, and I typically use each gallon of oil 3-6 times before disposing of it depending on what's been cooked. Disposing of the oil is always a pain in the butt - we're out in the country on a septic system so would never send it down the drain. I know some people freeze it and/or ziploc bag it and put it in their trash, but in the Texas heat it would thaw and potentially leak making for a HUGE, stinky, bug-and-scavenger-attracting mess. I started looking at the retail products for solidifying oil and found that they all depend on stearic acid. I then found that Consumer Reports tested and found that stearic acid works similarly to the commercial products for a much lower cost, so I gave it a try - and it works! When it's time to dispose of the oil, after cooking while it's till warm I had 2 to 3 tablespoons of stearic acid per cup of oil and set the pan aside to cool and solidify. After a few hours the oil has congealed into a gel which I can then dispose of directly in the trash, or sometimes bag it in a ziploc to ensure no gross out-squeezings. Overall I'm very happy with this product for oil disposal and highly recommend it.
