I own a lot of knives, have a few first production knives from Benchmade, and also some Zero Tolerence, Spyderco, Kershaw, etc., and I have to say this is a gem, especially in D2, which is a pretty good upgrade over AUS8. A little oil, and this baby flicks really nicely. For me, this is a thumb stud flick of the wrist knife, which when done together gives a very fast deployment and a loud locking sound as it locks into place. Very sweet. The blade is large because of the 1/2 space between the handle and were the blade actually begins. Knife came with a well centered blade, and a pretty good sharpness. I worry a lot when I take my $200 knives out in the field to hunt or field raft, but not with this one. Crazy good price for a D2 blade, thick enough to handle what you want with a folding field knife, but still able to make a good fire stick. Perfect compliment to my heavy fixed blade Esee 5. Made in Taiwan, not to get mixed up with the communist totalitarian state of the mainland China. Tiawan makes good stuff, much better than the other China (communist). Get this knife, it’s so much knife for the money.

For the price this is hard to beat. Closed, the blade is centered properly into the handle. Very easy to flick the blade open. Once opened it locks in place well with little side to side play. Decently sharp, but I’ll have to touch it up a little. Plastic scales aren’t slippery but don’t have great traction either. Handle is long enough and very well designed to allow a solid grip regardless. Love the 4 position pocket clip, and wish that was more common. I like to carry tip down and it came setup like that out of the box. Landyard hole is positioned properly, no chance of the closed blade contacting any cordage run through there. Only “negative” is that the blade doesn’t have the RAT logo like in the picture, just the Ontario logo, but that’s of course nit picking. Will see how it holds up and custom micarta scales are likely in order, but looks like a very good budget option.

The knife is excellent Quality. The one I received from Wisemen Trading is a RAT edition, not just Ontario knives and feels appropriately heavy and ergonomic. It has no side to side play, and the liner lock feels very sturdy. It was very easy to change the pocket clip location since I prefer to carry my knives tip down. It has a very sharp edge out of the box, shaving sharp. I much prefer the larger size compared to the RAT 2. I wanted to get one before they're gone. If you're thinking about grabbing one, get it while you can and definitely before buying the new cheap Chinese flippers that are flooding the market.
