Carburetor Rebuild Repair Kit Replacement for Edelbrock 1400 1404 1405 1406 1407 1409 1411

The price is good but didn’t to rework it just wanted perfection I also bought a mechanical fuel pump, the cheapest one, and for a long time could not figure out what was wrong. The carburetor was fine, especially after I was done with it, but the fuel pump brand new had me going nuts just enough fuel to run with low bowl level and making me think it was other things put an electric fuel pump on it disconnected the mechanical pump and I am loving my ride again stupid Amazon fuel pump

This is the worst carb. Kit I have purchased in over 40 years of being a master mechanic. This kit has ill fitting parts, wrong parts, parts drilled wrong and needle and seats tapped in the wrong thread. Absolutely horrible! Total waste of time and money. If I could rate it less than 1 star I would.

needed new floats mine had filled with fuel, everything fit as advertised

ALL PARTS LOOK GOOD QUALITY , HOWEVER THE PACKAGING IS SO POOR THAT THE NEW BRASS FLOATS WERE DENTED AND BENT UP,,, EASY FIX TO BEND BACK THE EARS ON THE FLOAT BUT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE,,, ALSO THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE KIT,,, SO YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE EXPIRENCE IN THIS CARB TO INSTALL THE KIT ,,, LIKE I SAID QUALITY ON PARTS LOOKS GOOD,,, GASKETS FINE AND NEEDLE AND SEAT LOOK GOOD AS WELL,,, SO THE EDLEBROCK PARTS PROBABLY MADE IN SAME PLACE,,, BUT PACKAGING SUCKS,,, THE SELLER SHOULD PUT IN A BOX THAT WONT CRUSH,,,

Same old cheap rebuild kit that needs trimming and some pieces don't line up, but to my surprise it has one positive. The air horn gasket is the thickest gasket I have come across yet. I'm interested to see how it seals. If you are having problems sealing the top half of your edelbrock, this might be the kit for you?

I ended up throwing about half of the kit away, but I am giving this a generous 2 stars because the base, main body, air horn, some other gaskets, and the tiny circlips are usable and worth the $13. Here’s what to watch out for: -the needles are ok, but the 2 main brass seats provided in the kit are drilled too large for the rubber tips to properly seal on them -the accelerator pump rubber plunger they provide is too small for the bore in the carburetor main body -the top of the accelerator pump rod where the s-bend linkage goes through is too small and needed to be drilled 2 sizes larger to use -the floats will work, but are of thinner material than original and came pre-dented and would probably get out of adjustment easier so I opted to re-use mine (I tested mine and the ones in the kit for leaks and they all passed) -the gasket for the accelerator pump squirters is slightly larger and doesn’t quite fit in the opening, I needed to trim that to use it -the gasket for the electric choke has a larger outside diameter while also having a smaller inside diameter and does not fit into the choke housing, I had to re-use my old one

I have to admit, I didn't buy the competition version to compare it with. It had the parts I needed. I'll get a mile or two on it and come back and whine if it's junk.

Exactly what I ordered

Do not buy! The gaskets are at least twice as thick as they should be therefore messing up internal dimensions out of spec. The gaskets also need trimming to fit if you did want to use them. Lastly the threads on the seat for the needle are not correct and will mess up the threads in your carb base.

Half the gaskets wouldn't line up! Ended up having to use a bunch of the old pieces just to get it running again.
