Knopf The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage (Book of Dust, Volume 1)

It is a nicely made edition. My copy came with uneven (uncut) edges of pages which adds to experience. Lyra story continues. I'd say it is not as great as trilogy but still very good.

This book was brilliant, explained a lot to me about the series I had previously read ‘His dark Materials,’which I had thoroughly enjoyed. Also was a thrilling adventure of a story quite gripping and exciting. On my previous book review it said what age did I buy the book for? Only went as high as 18+ I am in my 60s and I bought them for me. But they would suit any age from 12 up I think.

Bought the original English version to do a nice immersion again in this wonderful story (I read the story already previously in my native language) before the release of the last book. I love Philip Pullman's trilogy His Dark Materials and the Book of Dust is a wonderful, deep, and vast realm completing the story of Lyra and Pantalaimon.

Parfait prologue aux Dark Materials. À lire plutôt après ceux-ci : je pense que le récit est plus poignant quand on connaît déjà le monde de Lyra, les daemons et qu'on est déjà attachés à Lyra. J'ai relu les dark materials récemment en anglais, ici le vocabulaire me paraît plus simple, le style un peu plus direct. Mais la prose et narration sont toujours aussi belles et empreintes de poésie.

El libro llegó en perfecto estado y en pocos días. La edición es muy buena. Es flexible pero sólida, y letra de buen tamanio (no cansa los ojos).

Absolutely magical, fascinating, out of the world, wild wild imagination rides, adventurous, dark, mysterious...and I am running out of words to express how amazing it is!! Set in the alternative world of Oxford, where the church holds iron fist and the relation between rationality and religion are in bitter terms. The book is the prelude to the original magnum opus His Dark Materials so it gives a lot of detailed characterization. I accept the fact that the book is a voluminous reading of 550 pages almost but the energy and drama of the plot especially the 2nd part will ensure complete dedication.
