Straightforward and works exactly as described... independent audio out and audio in via a 3.5mm jack. Hooked right up to laptop to receiver to record vinyl.

My motherboard integrated port was putting out sound in one speaker. I bought this, it arrived the next day and I had sound on both speakers when I plugged it into the USB port. This was on Unbuntu. I am very impressed how easy this was compared the the old DOS days when you held your breath that it was going to work.

I gave it 4 stars because I've only had it a week so far BUT it works great there is no feed back noise, clipping or delay. Great product for the price. I use this with a Behringer 2 ch mixer, Blue spark mic and Pre Sonus studio one 6.

A friend of mine believes that any laptop with just one audio port can be used to listen on headphones but incapable of recording. So I bought this to show that any laptop can have two audio ports (Three if you count the on already on the laptop.)

I've now had two motherboard's built-in sound cards die on me, and this is the easy solution. I have plenty of unused USB ports on the back, so giving one up to this sound card is a no-brainer. It works perfectly with Linux! It also works fine in a USB hub as well if you are short on ports. I haven't noticed any sound latency going through a hub, but with video I have hit that problem so if super low latency is important to you, make sure to plug this right into a motherboard USB port.

It works perfectly for my intended use. Plug-n-play.
