Maxi-Matic EMG-980B Smokeless Electric Grill, Non-Stick, 14" Black

I put in a lot of time and research reviewing electric grills and decided on the Elite Gourmet EMG-980B Smokeless Electric Tabletop Grill - and so glad I did! I want that grill look and taste that you don't get from the frying pan or stove and reviewed grills from $30 to $200+. Price wasn't as much of an issue but I definitely wanted the value. Why pay too much when it seems an electric grill basically works the same way...it heats up on a grill plate. But don't get me wrong...this is my food we are talking about and I'm willing to pay a higher price for a higher grade of quality. I came across the Elite Gourmet 14-inch smokeless electric grill (EMG-980B) and compared to numerous brands and models - and this is why I chose Elite Gourmet: The Price: The price wasn't my biggest consideration but even when reviewing high-end grills at much higher costs, the EMG-980B still came out on top. Quite honestly, you cannot beat this unbelievable value. Electric Power/Watts/Temperature: This model works at 1300 watts and 450 degrees where the vast majority seem to be at 1000 watts. This assures me the true temperature reaches the level it needs to be at regardless of what it says on the dial. Watts matter. The Cover: The most simplest thing matters the most for an electric grill - and that is the lid (cover). Many electric grills do not have one and it is essential when using your electric grill to distribute the heat when cooking. Take it off near the end for the full grill look and taste. Grill Quality of the Plate: In reading so many reviews of various products, one of the chief complaints was the grill did not distribute heat evenly or reach the stated temperature. This grill plate cooks evenly throughout the plate. Even better is that the grill plate heats up immediately - there is literally no wait time. Pretty impressive. Plate Type: Most models had flat grills where this model has ridges. To be honest, I thought I would have preferred the flat grill but after cooking meat skewers and steaks, I see why the ridges are absolutely better - it allows the grease to separate and go to the outer ring and drip pan. Also, it leaves grill marks on your steak which looks like you actually cooked it on the outdoor BBQ grill. Plate Size: Elite Gourmet has three sizes (11-inch, 12-inch and 14-inch). I ordered the 14-inch plate thinking maybe I should have went with the 12-inch - but glad I went with the 14-inch as it is perfect when cooking a couple steaks and/or adding various veggies around the plate. I'm glad I didn't order the 12-inch. The 14-inch is just right. And for some odd reason, the 14-inch was less money than the 12-inch - so scored even better on that one! Non-Stick and Easy to Clean: The marketing states this grill is non-stick and easy to clean. My first use was cooking BBQ pork skewers and sure enough, the plate is nonstick and easy to clean as advertised. I simply wiped down the plate to remove the BBQ sauce char (and garlic) with ease. It made it quick and easy to use the grill right away for my veggies. A+ Smokeless Grill Just about every electric grill claims theirs is smokeless - but it basically is just a form of marketing magic. Now when you cook with the lid/cover on, it is essentially smokeless (until you remove the lid). However, it is pretty unrealistic to expect any type of cooking device to be "smokeless" as it is a matter of physics. Unless there is some sort of air induction feature, this is basically the same for all types of models. Value: I challenge anyone to find a better electric grill than this one based on the quality alone but take into consideration the price point, you simply cannot beat the overall value. There is a reason the Elite Gourmet Electric Grill is an Amazon Choice product.

Where has this been all my life. Im not a good cook, but I cook myself a meal every night and I like basic simple healthy meals. Food just tastes better when it is grilled for some reason. I have cooked shrimp, salmon, chicken and burgers on this grill. I also love that I can grill vegetables too which also taste better on the grill. It is definitely big enough for me as one person but also big enough for two with room to spare. . What I also love about it is the even heating and easy clean up. I have used it every night since I bought it. Sure has cut down on the pots and pans!!!. It is sturdy and of good quality and for the price it cannot be best. I highly recommend this nifty little grill. You will not regret it.

This is a terrific indoor grill. We originally bought this in 2021 to make Korean bbq at home - and it worked great for that! But we don't eat K-bbq all that often and, quite honestly, forgot that the grill existed. Then, last month, when our grill pan once again generated enough smoke to fill the kitchen, I was just about to search for an alternative - when I remembered this electric tabletop grill, just hiding out in our pantry. After dusting it off and plugging it in, we were in business! We've now used it at least eight times in two weeks, and it couldn't be easier. It heats very quickly and maintains a solidly hot surface. Food - from vegetables to all kinds of meat - cooks fast and evenly; there are no "hot spots" on the grill. Perhaps best of all, the grill surface cleans off ridiculously easily. I'm used to having to fight with our grill pan to get it clean (and I remember the days of "scraping" our George Foreman grill with the little plastic tool), so to have any oil or residue virtually slide off the surface is remarkable. It's not too hot after use. It's simple to store and pull out. The 14" is a great size for our needs. It's become an absolute must-have in our kitchen. So glad I remembered that this grill existed!

This is a great little grill. I love the design. Although it is a little on the lightweight side. It grilled my bacon and toast to perfection. That's all I have had a chance to grill and that was just a midnight snack. I'm doing smash burgers and steak tomorrow. I did notice that the handle did get quite warm, almost hot to touch, after I finished grilling and set it aside with the lid on. Also, it seems to be lopsided. One side is heavier than the other or the legs are not quite situated properly. Not sure what that was all about but I checked it a few times and it seemed to want to tilt in one direction. The grease cup didn't do well with the hot bacon grease. Just a tad bit, melted. Not enough to put a hole in it but I can not wipe the damaged part away. It seemed to heat evenly, though. The grill marks on my toast proved that. I think that is some of the best bacon I have ever had. I've never grilled bacon before but wow...it came out beautifully. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I have high hopes for this grill. I'll update later. Oh, I have two more of this companies products; two small skillets. That's why I was surprised that this grill was so lightweight and the stand that houses the plate is so cheap & plasticky. But if it works, and if it last, I'm good with it. I just will watch the grease cup to see if it continues to melt with hotter grease.

This was/is my last try at an indoor electric grill! I’m totally SOLD and will buy more for gifts because I want to share the ease of indoor grilling with family and friends. I’m posting pics so you can SEE the things I had questions about before ordering. My big complaint with indoor grilling was always the huge mess to clean up. Spatter everywhere and the wire rack never seemed to get cleaned right the first time and then the drippings were the biggest problem! I’d line the base under the heating element with foil and then have to wait AFTER messy grilling for it to thicken so I could remove the grease and fold the foil to throw it in the trash. I grilled less and less for those reasons. Let’s not forget...outdoor grills do have a lid and that’s what I missed with my 3 other grills...no top! Fast forward...I saw this grill, as a last ditch effort to being able to cook healthier for myself I decided to buy it after much thought and weighed my options of price, size and actually at first the Lid was the selling point at first sight and then I saw this all comes completely apart! Yes, the actual cooking surface lifts out of the sturdy, hard base. Also...in the base is a drip cup that slides in and out like a tiny drawer so you can pour the grease into a plastic/paper cup or even a thicker baggie and you seal it and throw it away. WHAT? Could it be that simple? YES! This item is the closest thing to smokeless that I’ve ever had. Very little smoke...you can really control any smoke if there is any, with the TEMPERATURE CONTROL and or the Lid. Temperature control....what a nice plus, seriously folks...only one of my three other expensive grills had that but I hated the grilling and the mess. I must say that clean up is/was so easy! I lifted the non-stick grilling surface out of the base, wiped any grease left off of it with a paper towel and then washed it with soapy warm water, dried it and set it back in it’s base and did the same with the lid, soapy warm water, rinse, dry and put it back on the grill. Oh, one more thing...the controls fit nicely inside with no cord sticking out or hanging. I did not miss having a grill rack at all and I still got Grill Marks on my Steaks! LOL Check out my pictures, they might answer any questions about the grill that might get answered for you. On yeah, I ordered the 14” grill and I worried it wouldn’t be big enough but as you can see? It’s plenty big enough. I had Two Fillets on it in the picture and could of had several, later I added sliced potatoes and added sliced veggies to grill which I did not take a pic of, sorry! This could cook at least six large burgers or two big sirloins at once. If you have a large family? Order according to the size cooking surface you think might work for you...better a little more than you need than not enough. My only complaint was with the delivery, the out side box it was packaged in was destroyed! The actual box the grill is in didn’t even have a scratch and was very well protected!! Eating healthier because all meat, chicken, fish and vegetables are cooked on this grill. Eating healthier has caused me to lose weight! I can’t believe it myself lol. But I know it’s because I’m not eating anything fried or having food cooked that sits in oil, grease or fats. I’m glad I chose the 14” round grill. It’s perfect for cooking complete meals for TWO...from the meat, veggies and even potato slices or wedges. IF you are just cooking meat chicken or fish for the family? The 14” will serve you well but if youHAVE A FAMILY OF FOUR or more and want to just get it done all in one cooking? I’d go a little larger. You won’t be disappointed. Clean up is EASY PEASY!

I love this little grill. It heats up quickly and offers a range of temperatures. It’s non-stick, which makes cleaning up a breeze. Once the food is cooked, I typically will pour some water over the grill to help loosen and stuck food particles. The lid is a nice addition, I place the grill on my stovetop and turn the fan on, and it really doesn’t smoke! Can’t recommend this grill enough, it’s perfect for when you don’t feel like firing up the big grill.

I was impressed with this grill. The grilling surface is abundant. I’ve used it twice since the holidays. I grilled 7 salmon filets (see photo -before I flipped them over). They cooked up perfectly with fantastic grill marks. The pan washed up easily by hand and did not leave any scent behind. I used it to complete some ribs I had prepared in my pressure cooker. I finished them on the grill with bbq sauce, for caramelization. There were plenty of very cooked bits of sauce left behind, burnt drippings. I literally rinsed the griddle and with my dish gloved hand just pushed off those hard bits. The grill washed off very clean - no residue. The griddle, overall, is very lightweight. I found that to be very surprising. I like that is it large enough to hold enough food but still is easy to lift and put away. I’m a fan. *Also wanted to note - it clearly states to NOT use cooking spray on the griddle. Some reviewers posted negative comments about the griddle smoking after they used cooking spray. You need to lightly brush oil on certain foods before cooking. Do not use cooking spray! Also, it states you can put the plastic holder in the dishwasher - not the actual griddle. The griddle must get hand washed, as it has the electrical connector for the cord on it. Some reviewers complained the griddle rusted out by the connector after it was washed in the dishwasher. Do not put the griddle in the dishwasher. People complaining about this clearly did not read or comprehend the directions. I would not put any of the pieces in the dishwasher. They are super easy to hand wash and air dry. When I received the griddle, before washing or cooking, I plugged it in on high heat and let it heat up for several minutes, to get rid of any factory “scent”. After it cooled, I cleaned by hand. No weird odors or issues upon using the first time. 11/17/25 update: I just added the photo with the ribeye steaks. As you can see the steaks are quite large and cooking very evenly. The grill still is holding up perfectly as it did the first day. I am 100% recommending it. And, I am especially particular.

To me what makes a grill perfect are four essential aspects: heat, size, a cover, and ease of cleaning. Especially for the latter, I always felt lied to when told those non-detachable grills were "easy-to-clean", and often wondered why manufacturers didn't make grills that could be disassembled for cleanup. Well, this grill does just that: you can easily take it apart completely and wash all of the individual components in the sink or in the dishwasher. Its size is great for grilling all your meats in one go (if I had to guess, the diameter is about 50cm). I only used it once, but it heated quickly and I was able to prepare boneless chicken thighs in about 15 minutes. There was very little smoke and spill when cooking, thanks in large part to the lid, and the end result was satisfactory to my liking. My only qualm is the length of the power cord: the reason is mentioned in the manual (to avoid tripping, if I recall correctly), but it feels like such a BS motive. I'm lucky the outlet is close to the stovetop so I can place the grill under the exhaust hood, but the manufacturer could have spared an extra foot of cord and made this a perfect product.

El sabor de la comida es muy bueno con y sin aceite; probé con algunos filetes de salmon y verduras y es fenomenal. Casi tan bueno como una parrilla de carbón. Además la superficie en donde se coloca no recibe el calor de la parrilla. Todo se desmonta y es fácil limpiarla. El recubrimiento de la parrilla se ve un poco delicado; definitivamente hay que elegir una esponja suave para lavarlo.

La carne queda muy bien cocinada, solo hay que seguir el manual para usar la temperatura correcta y a disfrutar
