Verilux HappyLight Lumi - UV-Free LED Therapy Lamp, Bright White Light with 10,000 Lux, Adjustable Brightness, Detachable Stand, and Wall Mountable

This is a fantastic little daylight lamp. I have previously purchased other lamps by Verilux and of course they were much larger because you had CFL bulbs in them. CAUTION: THESE LIGHTS ARE SUPER BRIGHT. DON’T STARE DIRECTLY AT IT. Actually what works best for me is to angle it, face it at wall, or even put it slightly higher than my head. This way it brightens the near area without blinding me. ;) This new light is really sharp looking, as well as great build quality; a smooth feel and it just exudes quality. It is actually the size of an iPad mini. there’s a power button on the top, and there’s a 3 Stage Brightness Circle on the front you could touch for adjustment. The plug in the back looks like compact USB and it comes with an AC adapter. The whole thing is very portable. The stand for it slides onto the bottom and it locks onto the back for storage. The base is rubberized on the bottom and a little heavier. All in all this is a great lamp and it’s extremely portable. It’s winter up north here, it’s gray or darker and I really miss the sun since I work indoors a lot. This daylight therapy lamp and others seem to help me wake up better in the morning or during an afternoon slump, and I’m hoping it will help me sleep better at night as well. I like this Verilux flat panel LED lamp much better than all the ones that used compact fluorescent or other bulbs.

Nothing has changed in my routine,waste of money.

Here is a comparison of three different light therapy lamps. The little Circadian Optics, the globe Miroco, and the Verilux Happy Light LED Lumi. All are very effective in lifting autumn moodiness. The differences have more to do with light range and comfort. The little square Circadian is a source of piercing light that you must keep no further than 6-8”away from your face. Mine had an annoying, intermittent flicker. Thirty minutes hunched over the Circadian was ample for mood elevation. The Miroco is larger with a slightly gentler light. Again, however, distance needs to be kept at 8” or you will lose effectiveness. Now, the Verilux. The light is extremely bright, which means you can relax back in your chair a bit and still get an effective treatment. I have it perched on a music sheet stand and can maneuver the light to a higher, optimal position. I’ll be keeping the Verilux and returning the other two.

I wasn’t sure if I had SAD, but I knew I got sort of bummed and a homesick-sort-of feeling every winter when it starts getting dark at like 4pm. I bought this light just to check it out and figured I’d return it if I didn’t feel like it did anything, but let me tell you, it is LIFE CHANGING!! I was skeptical of all the other rave reviews, but I am a FULL believer now and have been recommending this to everyone I talk to!! I’ve been using it every morning for a week (I just keep it by my bed and turn it on for about 30 min after I wake up and am scrolling on my phone in bed) and it has given me A TON more energy, helped me feel well-rested for the first time in AGES, and just TOTALLY changed my mood this winter!! I feel as energized and excited about life as I do in the summer!! It’s incredible! I no longer feel ready for bed when it gets dark at 4pm, and I just feel like I can go about my day without feeling like I’m controlled by whether or not it’s sunny outside! I mentioned it to my psychiatrist and she said these type of lights help you produce your own melatonin, which explains why I’m sleeping better too! The specific product is sleek, lightweight, has 3 different brightness levels (although I like it on the brightest level, and no, it doesn’t hurt my eyes because I don’t stare directly at it, I just let it hit me from the side), and is very intuitive to use and manage. Even older or technologically-challenged people would have no problem figuring it out. There are only two buttons (one for power and one to adjust the brightness) so it’s super easy! Even if you’re just considering getting this product, I would definitely suggest giving it a shot to at least test it out! I can’t recommend it highly enough. I am just SO excited to have my life back!

An SAD lamp was recommended to me by my provider to help with the winter months and extended overcast days. I'm unsure of the efficacy at this point, as I've only been using it for a couple days that were overly gloomy. However, I do have some first impressions: Design: The design is compact and portable. The stand attaches to the back of the unit which is nice for taking it with you if necessary. The unit's brightness button is touch responsive and makes transitioning from one setting to another extremely easy. If there is one con to the design, it's that it doesn't allow for the unit to be set up in a landscape orientation. While researching, I did see other models from Verilux that had this feature, and it would be nice if it was available in all of the tablet style models that they offer (I know, I know...I could have just bought one that had this functionality). I am removing 1 star for lack of the feature nonetheless. Brightness: I've read some other reviews regarding the lux of this product. Though I've not measure the lux, I can say that this thing is bright on the low setting, and only gets more intense from there. Some might even find the light uncomfortably bright. I currently have the light about 2 feet away from me, and the intensity is about right on the lowest setting. I know the manufacturer states that the light is 10,000 lux 6 inches, but I can't imagine the light being that close - let alone the unit - and not being too intense. Once I've been using the product for a longer amount of time, I will hopefully remember to update my post. Either way, I'm satisfied with the design and the brightness. Based on just those aspects, I think it's a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking for a solidly designed and portable SAD unit. The only con is the lack of a landscape option.
