Not interesting
I really wanted to like it. The story was too slow and boring; I am struggling to finish it. You feel like your reading a lot of irrelevant pages like you just want the story to unravel already. You also don’t feel connected to the main character. I wouldn’t recommend... I received the book in good condition like the picture.

Best book i've read in 2022
Very clichè to say but i had very high expectations for this one. I've read quite a few reviews raving about what a wonderful page turner this is and those same expectations have been exceeded. IIt's definitely the best book i've read in 2022 and i wish i could start it all over again with the same wonder and curiosity and heart warming feeling i had the first time while reading. It was my little escape from reality, the one thing i looked forward to each night before going to bed. Do yourself a favour and read it.

Absolutely amazing.
4.5 stars rounded to 5 I really don't know what to say. This book, this book was just so amazing. I don't know if I can write a coherent review after this because my thoughts are just scattered. Addie LaRue made a deal. A deal that she thought would free her from her confined life and let her really live. But the darkness is not a magical fairy godmother, it is a God who does not give things out for free. Addie soon realises the price she had to pay and after hundreds of years as a ghost she meets Henry. Who remembers. First things first, the thing that stood out to me the most while reading this book was the writing. Schwab was born to be an author. Her writing was almost lyrical and poetic. She was able to write emotions so effortlessly! There is one chapter near the end of the book in Henry's POV that just gave me chills. I could feel how lost he was and how he was just drifting through the days all because of the writing, it was just so powerful. I cannot describe how much I loved it. Addie was such a great character and I loved those little snippets into her life. Although at sometimes it made the plot so slow but someone in my bookclub made a great point that maybe it was to show how slow those hundreds of years would have gone by for her. Either way while I did find the pacing to be very slow I did enjoy those little stories and did think it added to the development of Addie's character. Henry was so complex and while he wasn't my favourite character I found his chapters to be written so well, and again the author was just amazing at capturing his emotions and putting them into words! The plot was very intricate and I absolutely love how everything tied together, especially that ending! The ending was my favourite part by a mile. I loved how it was sort of bittersweet and we still get to see Addie's resourceful attitude at the end and we are left speculating and reeling as we look back on all the little details and hints towards each of the plot twists throughout the whole book. This book may have taken me three months to read but it was completely worth it and I will definitely be picking up another of V.E Schawb's books.

10/10
