Can you use the breathing band without having the monitor?

No. Only the Nanit monitor is able to detect breathing patterns in relation to usage of the band.

Would motion sets it off ? If baby is wearing it while napping in his swing will it still work?

No. The Breathing Motion monitoring is tracking the motion of the Breathing Wear pattern on your baby’s chest. If the swing itself is moving, the camera won’t be able to monitor your baby’s breathing motion.

Is this main function to keep track of the baby breathing and if he is not breathing then it will beep ? Is my understanding correct ?

Breathing Wear is designed to monitor and detect breathing motion. If breathing motion is not detected you will receive an alert on your mobile device as well as an alarm will sound on the camera. *Nanit is not a medical device. Nanit is a connected product designed and intended to continuously learn from the data it collects to help you understand your baby’s sleep patterns. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any disease or other condition, including but not limited to, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). False positive or false negative readings about your baby’s breathing patterns are a potential risk of Nanit. Nanit should not substitute for the care and oversight of an adult or consultation with medical professionals.

Does it track their breathing still if the baby is a belly sleeper?

Yes! The Breathing Band was designed with growing babies in mind. The pattern is visible on the back allowing Nanit to track breathing motion with belly sleepers.

Ridiculously small

This would be an awesome addition to an awesome monitor... if it was bigger! My son is 5 months old and on the 15th centile for weight, but the large band I bought barely fits him now and certainly won’t up to 18 months. Very unimpressed with the response from directly emailing Nanit customer support: they replied it “runs a bit small”, larger breathing wear is in development but this doesn’t represent a fault with the product therefore no replacement. Not happy!
