This would be an awesome addition to an awesome monitor... if it was bigger! My son is 5 months old and on the 15th centile for weight, but the large band I bought barely fits him now and certainly won’t up to 18 months. Very unimpressed with the response from directly emailing Nanit customer support: they replied it “runs a bit small”, larger breathing wear is in development but this doesn’t represent a fault with the product therefore no replacement. Not happy!

We bought these as we wanted to swaddle our newborn and use the breathing monitor feature on our Nanit camera. Not sure if it’s just our baby but she doesn’t like being swaddled in this way and the process of putting on the swaddle (and making it tight enough) always wakes her which frustratingly starts over the whole routine of trying to get her to go back to sleep. Holding baby over the shoulder (her preferred position) in the swaddle is also tricky, as the band tends to ride up, and we were very conscious of the band potentially covering her mouth and nose. We had frequent false alarms on the nanit monitor because the swaddle wasn’t tight enough. Changing baby in the swaddle is possible as the zip is two-way, so simple enough to open the bottom end only, however depending on baby’s size, the stiffer breathing band part may be quite far down baby’s body to get new nappy high enough on their belly. Something to bear in mind with newborns. Velcro is very hard to undo without waking baby, so another thing which was frustrating if wanting to reposition the swaddle for any reason. On the whole we are glad we could monitor baby’s breathing with the nanit whilst swaddling her at the same time- swaddling in the early stages prevented her from startling herself and waking herself up regularly in the night- but unfortunately did not find this particularly practical. Sadly there is not much more choice when it comes to using the nanit monitor.. we moved baby on to the breathing band as soon as possible (4-5weeks of age) because it is much easier to take on and off and won’t ride up to her face. Also noticed less false alarms compared with the swaddle.

Little one loved it for the first 3 weeks but now likes to sleep with her arms out. Did what it said it would.
