How true are the sizes? I have a 7 year old. Should I do the 4-6 or 7-11

They are extremely big. I have a 7 year old and the 4-6 was huge! I can almost get my entire hand in the glove.

I am trying to figure out how big this is. Different kids have different sized hands. What is the length of the middle finger on the glove?

My son is five and pretty small for his age. I bought whichever size that said it fit ages 4-6. They fit with room to spare and the extra space doesn't get in his way.
