Has anyone actually been able to contact customer service about this product without getting the runaround?

For those that use the optional line in hookup, do I need to keep faucet on through the wash cycle? Or can I take it off after it fills tank?

Other answer was wrong. As soon as the machine fills with water and rapidly beeps, that's it. You may now remove the water source. This unit fills up the internal tank using the faucet connection. It only does this once and never needs water again until the next time you operate it. Every rinse/drain cycle for the rest of the program comes from that internal tank, exactly as if you filled it manually.

I don’t get it. If the faucet is on, how does it not flood the kitchen? How do you know how high to turn it on?

It hooks up to the faucet and discharges out of the same hose. You hook it up to the back of dishwasher it splits into two hoses. One for water coming in and one for water coming out. I discharges into sink it doesn't spit out a lot at a time. It cycles in and out. The quick connect to the hose is water tight the pressure is not enough to break and flood. Your water is always on in any sink. A handle turning is just opening the valve. Dishwasher opens and closes that 'valve' itself.

Does this heat it's own water or does it have to be hot going in?

It heats the water but I noticed if I use hot water it starts sooner because it skips the heating of the water process.
