Baseline Earpro for a Reason
Possibly every single modern shooting enthusiast owns a pair of these and a pair of Razors. Razors are popular because there's nothing else that cheap and their marketing is borderline magic, but these guys are popular because, despite being a bit rough around the edges with room for improvement, they get the basic idea right so darned well that they're still a heavyweight competitor in the realm of budget electronic earpro, even after a decade. The amplification is, despite being analog, excellent. It really does feel like super hearing (though music and sharp sounds make the mics peak HARD), and the outside design is unquestionably intelligent. Whoever engineered the things put a lot of thought into what slim form factor ear protection should look and act like and it shows. Aside from that, they are thin-REALLY thin. If you're willing to invest a bit in gel pads, they're practically nonexistent on your head, deapite blocking plenty of sound. As for the guts, they're soldered well, the wires are well-put-together, and generally it doesn't look like a high school student's first wiring project. I'd strongly argue in favor of Peltor's Rangeguards and Sport 100s over these (digital circuitry and Peltor magic goes far, man!), but considering how reliable, effective, affordable, and comfortable these things are with the aftermarket and comms capability they have, they're not just worse Pelts. I have several pairs and have dumped plenty of money into upgrades, and I can attest that they easily bully models twice and even thrice their price, upgrades included in competitors. Get a pair if you care about your ears.

Absolutely love it !
I was looking for a good electronic affordable ear protection head muffs and one of my friend recommended these. I must say wow! they are just great. - Fit: Initially right out of the box, when I tried to wear them, they felt a bit off to me. Then after some adjustment I felt that they fit me good and decided to take them to the range the next day. I was wearing my ear plugs and the howard Leight on top of it. They are very comfortable and does not create any pressure points which causes pain after wearing it for a long time. - Sound cancellation: They cancel out loud frequencies pretty well. I have to keep the volume control maxed out to hear the conversations because I also wear ear plugs inside my head muffs. That's not a big deal, once I turn these on, I can hear people whispering, I can hear actions clicking :). Its a fun experience when the loud frequencies are cut out and you can still hear range commands and people talking around you very clearly. I love it. - Compactness They are very compact once folded in but I don't do it anymore coz this changes the adjustment of the ear cups that you have done initially. I don't have any issues with space so I just don't fold it. - Music Well I have tried this, I have tried listening to music by connecting my iphone to the jack while I am shooting. It works pretty well but it just gives me an odd feeling :). I want to be attentive of my surroundings when I am shooting rather than listening to music and just being careless.. - price The price is just right and you get much more quality for the price you pay. Its good bang for the buck. - Rifle cheek wield I guess most of us have the concern whether the rifle cheek wield would be good with any ear muffs? Well in case of Howard Leight its not an issue. This is because of their ear cup shape. The bottom part of the cup is thinner as compared to the top part. The bottom part of the cup is shaved off to create this space that helps you wield your rifle butt better to the cheek. I shot around 250 rounds wearing these for over a period of 3+ hours and they were perfect for me. no issues. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to get into electronic noise cancellation ear protection. Thanks.

Fantastic value - my favorite hearing protection (update)
Five stars EASY. I've had my pair of Impact Sport hearing protection for three years now I think, or there abouts. I've used mine at work, running heavy equipment 80+ hours a week and laboring all manner of dirty jobs on large demo and construction projects. I absolutely love these. Are they the highest tech? No. Are they the most comfortable? No. Are they the highest level of sound damping available? No. What they are, and why they receive such high regard from myself, is very good for their intended purpose in every respect, especially for the price. One can certainly spend a lot more, as a matter of fact a couple of my co-workers have the high-end 3M head gear with the Bluetooth this and bells and whistles that, but they are bulkier, much more expensive and those guys are constantly babying their sets. I've never worried about babying mine. I take care of them like anything else I own; I don't kick them around or anything, but I have used and used and used them some more. They've floated around in my dirt crusted duty bag for weeks at a time, bouncing around the floorboards in a rock truck for days, been used and banged around on construction and demo projects and been subjected to thousands of rounds of small arms fire and, the ultimate test - my kids have played with them. The audio clarity on these is very good, if not perfect, and I get an amplification boost which I'm spoiled for. I can hear better with these on and I never get the feeling that my auditory sense is hindered. With a couple of lesser rigs that I've had (one of which actually cost twice as much), I would keep getting the feeling that I wasn't hearing things... "correctly" due to the sound quality and a lack of directional sense. Consequently, I would find myself compelled to lift them off of my ears at times to cue in to sounds that I'd heard. Not so with these; I never feel compelled to lift them off to hear better. I can wear mine for hours without discomfort and the batteries last so long, even at full amplification, that I don't have a guess as to how many hours they actually last - a long frikken time. They're low profile which lends them better usage under more "dynamic" work conditions; they just don't get in the way. I've also used mine during target practice with compensated 308 Win and 10mm Auto. These earmuffs are enough protection that damage does not occur even under the high decibel hammering dealt out by those arms. No ringing in the ears even under the brutal, cranium splitting, muzzle blast of rapid fire compensated arms. When I'm operating equipment and the cab noise is high, I put these on and set the audio so I'm comfortable. My ears are protected and I can still hear things like the VHF in the cab, horns and voice commands and engine noise perfectly. Like I said before though, these are not the highest level of sound protection you can get. If you're used to using the big, high NRR stuff, these might seem a little light. I call them just right and I give them 5 Stars. Update: Still going strong! It's 1/14/17 now. I'm wearing these on a daily basis in my shop, still using these when I'm shooting and I also wear these when I'm out cutting firewood with a chainsaw. Sub-zero temperatures, snow, years of rugged use in general have not stopped these things. Mine still work like new, although they no longer look new by any measure. These have been a great value. When this pair finally go the way of Chesty Puller and Audie Murphy, I'm getting another set of the same.

Tight and Static
I've worn these for a few days now and there are things I like and things I don't. I rated it 3-stars mainly due to the uncomfortably tight fit and an issue I noticed with static on one side. I can get this pair replaced to fix the static issue, but even if that wasn't an issue the tight/uncomfortable fit would be a deal breaker. Everything else about these earmuffs reflects top quality, and if I am able to resolve the tight fit problem I'll update my review accordingly. [EDIT: changed to 4-stars after figuring out a way to make them more comfortable - see end of review.] PROS: - Nice compact package when folded. - VERY quiet when volume turned down. The passive noise protection is exceptional. - ON/Off/Volume control is intuitive, with one control for both sides. - Stereo microphones make it easy to tell where an external sound is coming from. - There is an included cord to connect to an MP3 player or other audio device. I tested it on my iPhone and laptop, and it works perfectly. With the sound on the earmuffs turned down (but on), the music comes through just like any other headphone set. Turning the earmuff volume up results in louder sound but also amplifies external sounds. Keeping the earmuff volume down, you can adjust the music volume on your MP3 player as you would normally. - Easy battery installation/replacement. - Rugged construction. - The headband is covered in an imitation leather, but is very soft and comfortable. - Automatic cut-off after 4 hours. Great for saving battery life, and if you are still using when it cuts off you only have to turn it off/on and you get another 4 hours. CONS: - Extremely tight fitting. After just a few minutes I felt like I had joint problems with my jaw. I have adjusted them for a proper fit over my ears, but even after trying to over-stretch and bend the frame, it feels like my head is in a clamp. [EDIT: see end of review.] - It took some work to get the headband adjusted. You basically have to un-do the tucked in imitation leather ends and pull the wire frame out. Depending on how large your head is, this could make the headphones fairly goofy looking, and when folding back up you'll need to do some work to get the ends stuffed back in. - The right side of my set has noticeable static in all volume settings. I assume this is only an issue with this pair, and will work with the company to get a replacement. EDIT: If you push each headset through the frame as you are putting them on, they will be much more comfortable. This wasn't readily apparent to me, as (at least on my set) I have to push fairly hard to get them past the frame. But once you do this, they fit MUCH more comfortably. Still very tight, but at least they don't clamp down on my jaw like they did.

Excellent quality earmuffs
Bought these for about $30 over nine years ago, and they're still going strong. They've held up through countless trips, yard work, and general use without any issues. The sound amplification is still clear, the hearing protection is excellent, and they're just as reliable today as when they were new. Seeing the price around $63 now makes me appreciate that purchase even more. If mine ever quit, I'd buy another pair without hesitation. A product that lasts nearly a decade earns every one of those five stars.

Would Definitely Buy Again!
Good quality without spending hundreds. I can hear better with them on. The mic picks up sounds you wouldnโt normally hear if you turn them up high enough. Best bang for your buck! Noise cancellation works fine. No issues, would buy again. ๐

Outstanding Hearing Protection
Electronic hearing protection. I've been using these for years. As far as electronic hearing protection goes, these were, at the time, very inexpensive compared to others. Since my now ex-wife would occasionally shoot with me, I figured she would do well with these. Of course, I tried them myself first, and I was so impressed I bought a pair for myself. Of course, I kept both sets in the divorce. ;-) I have a Peltor that I like, but it uses buttons, and it's kind of falling apart, with the rubber over the wires disintegrating and exposing them. It is comparable to these, but it has been treated much better, and fared much worse. I have an older pair of Howard Leight electronic ears, and while they work a little better, they use funky batteries that are expensive and a bit more difficult to find. They've been beaten up a bit, and aside from a missing foam thingy over a microphone, they've held up nicely. As for these, they've been bounced around in range bags, my SUV, and whatnot, and they still work and look great. Unless you're actually using these as targets, you don't have to worry about durability or reliability. They also use regular AAA batteries. If you shoot a lot, you'll appreciate the cost savings, and if you only shoot occasionally, you'll be glad you don't have to run around looking for oddball batteries, or wear expensive 'regular' hearing protection, when they inevitably poop out sitting on a shelf. Also, the automatic shut-off works well, and these barely sip juice. I think I've replaced the batteries maybe 4 times in several years, and I shoot frequently. As for the actual hearing protection, these work well, but they could do better. I've shot everything from a .44 magnum to a Mosin Nagant to shotguns, with no problem. I've shot next to others with their artillery, and again, no problem. For the shooting I do, they are acceptable, however, if I did significantly more shooting, I'd go with something with a higher rating. There are other units that do better at protecting your hearing, so if you are in instructor or otherwise shoot on a daily basis, you probably want to do more research and getting something better. I've also used these in other noisy environments. At one point there was a malfunctioning alarm going off, and of course the one guy on Earth who knew how to silence it was doing something else, so the damn thing went on and on all day. I had to sit there for 4 hours listening to it...except I put these on, smiled, and went about my work. They're handy when using power tools too. As for the electronic part, these work very well. I can speak to others at a normal conversational volume without issues. There seems to be a momentary cut-out when someone shoots, but it only rarely affects one's understanding of what's being said. It uses a normal wheel for power and volume. I haven't used the audio plug for anything. I wouldn't have minded having these when flying on military planes or inside armored vehicles, so if you have a loved one in the military and have no idea what to get them for a birthday or whatnot, consider these. Mine came with orange side covers. I went with green, because green is cool, but then I don't hunt animals. It seems since I bought mine different covers and colors are available. If it was a bigger deal to me, I'd get a rattle can and paint them a color to suit me. In conclusion, if you're law enforcement, or you otherwise shoot several times a year, these are an economical choice. Highly Recommend!

Best bang for the buck and should fit most folks heads well...
I purchased these Howard Leight muffs as I am on a budget and am just starting to go out to the shooting range more consistently with a good friend of mine so definitely needed to get the best quality muffs I could afford. If you are new to how loud it can get at some ranges like I was--it is easy to overlook before you go out for the first time the importance of having good quality ear protection. The first time I went out I was using only internal plugs which unfortunately left me with 2 days afterwards for my full hearing to come back---so I was concerned. After my first time out with these muffs--I am very impressed especially for the price point. They work as advertised and had no issues at all with my hearing being affected even after a long 4 + hour session at the range and they are as many other reviewers have said---very comfortable when wearing them for long periods. The low profile design is also much appreciated to minimize stock interference as much as possible which in my case was a crucial feature--it doesn't 100% deal with the issue but I can't imagine getting any lower profile without compromising on protection. As other reviewers have also stated, there is a slight hiss and feedback when the volume is cranked all the way up---however, I solved this by simply not cranking the volume all the way up which you really don't need unless your hearing is already particularly bad. Even with the volume on at mid-range setting I found this was more than ample at the very loud range we frequent as I could easily hear all general range commands as well as my friend's commands quite clearly even from several yards away standing behind me without him yelling in the least. I have a decent to large size head of normal round shape and wear a 7.5 size hat and have no issues at all with the fit either over my head or with the muffs themselves on my ears. My friend however has a self-described "pointy" narrow head and he found the fit unacceptable. He did however state that he usually isn't comfortable with most muffs for this reason so it appears his issue is a rare case. So, barring any unusual fit issues--you should definitely give these muffs a try. 5-stars and HIGHLY recommended! Thanks Howard Leight!

ICH HรRE DICH NICHT!!! WAS HAST DU GESAGT?!
Robustes Design (auch im Vergleich zu hochpreisigen Modellen) Was mir (u.a. nach einiger Zeit der Nutzung) auffรคllt ist folgendes: 1.

Solid build, comfortable, high 30dB NRR
Out of the package these earmuffs feel like quality. I have a pair of regular earmuffs with a NRR of 31dB and I can't hear any difference in ambient noise with the power off on these. The mic's sound quite natural when turned on. They are large but not heavy and for me, don't seem to interfere with the rifle butt in a sitting position. I wear glasses and still get a comfortable fit with a tight seal. The lower profile electronic earmuffs post a rating of 19 to 22dB NRR and given that sound preasure doubles every 3 dB, I have opted for the highest (NRR) rating I can get. Haven't tried them at the range yet, I will update this when I do. You might want to check reviews on Amazon.com, there is a lot more. May 12, 2016... Used these earmuffs on an outdoor range last week and they worked perfectly. I'm very happy and would buy again. Note, I have not tried to play music through them... not a good idea while being responsible for firearms. May 21, 2016... I shoot 223 but spotted for a guy shooting 338 today and worked well in suppressing the report.
