Would this be a good a good finish for Hickory axe handles? Traditionally they use boiled linseed oil, although some people use tung oil.

Yes you can definitely use this on axe handles, it's Tung Oil based and like a traditional danish oil.

Can you add this on top of butcher block already treated with mineral oil?

I would recommend the original Walrus oil cutting board oil. But yes you can put that on an already treated butcher block

Does this have a natural coloring or is it clear?

Both. Natural ,as in, it will leave the wood the natural color to that species, because it is clear. It will enhance the natural color and grain patterns a bit because it is hydrating the wood. A good idea of the effect is to wipe the wood with a damp rag (with water.) It will look almost wet with a slight sheen. Certain woods absorb more and will take more coats.

This Stuff is Amazing

I was originally looking for 100% hemp oil, but I thought I'd give this a try since the other oils (tung and safflower) are also natural and food safe. It completely revitalized wood that had been damaged by sun, salt air and rain. Nothing else I'd tried had worked, and I thought I was going to have to sand the wood down and refinish it. This oil provided a lovely finish without having to sand, and it also smells nice and natural. I like the fact its food safe and doesn't smell like chemicals.. I love how happy it has made my wood. I just bought a second bottle.

A great wood finish

So this oils looks great on the few types of wood I’ve tried it on. I put it on Oak and African Padauk hard woods in my projects. It dries quickly but does darken the color of the wood a little. Overall a very good product for the applications I use it for. Definitely worth the money.
