I want to cut foam rubber that is about 8" thick and was told the best way was an electric knife. Will this do it?

The blade is only 8" overall with 6.75" of serrated cutting edge.

It truly depends on the type of bread you want to cut. A crusty dense bread does very well under this knife. I find the softer breads do better with a good serrated Chefs knife And a light hand when cutting.

how long is the blade itself?

The actual blade itself is 7 1/2 inchs, the whole blade including the part that fits INTO the handle is 11 inchs. :)

Great electric knife!

I used it cutting up a 27lb Christmas ham. Did a wonderful job. Each cut was smooth and easy. I had no issues at all. I just bought this electric knife but I had a Hamilton Beach electric knife for 30 years and it always performed perfectly.
