G7thPerformance 3 Capo with ART (Steel String Silver)

With about 6 different Performance 2 capos, I wasn’t going to replace them all with this new Performance 3, but I did buy one to check it out. I didn’t find the new adapter radius technology worked fantastic. I have 2 Performance 2 capos at 7.25” radius and those seem to work better than the Performance 3. The Performance 3 is also a bit larger and heavier than the Performance 2. I appreciate these guys strive to innovate and improve, but these are so expensive and I didn’t find the Performance 3 working better than the 2.

I tried this expensive capo on three guitars; a Taylor 322, a Martin D-Jr, a Larivee OO-3R. I positioned the capo at three different locations on each; 2nd fret, 5th fret and 7th fret. At each location on each guitar at least one string buzzed or was dead sounding. Change in pressure (less tight, more tight) did not. The I did the same test with my Shubb Deluxe which passed all tests with no buzz or dead sound. It therefore appears I got a bad example or they just don't work. In any case it will be returned and I'll stick to my faithful Shubb.

For most this will be perfect. I just knocked 1 star because the v2 is slightly smaller and actually works and sounds better on my main guitar.But.. For most people, this might work better due tk the self adjusting radius.G7TH capls are really the best out there. Thalia is junk in comparison IMHO. They're way too big and difficult to unclamp. Thalia videos make it look easy, but it isn't. You have to use a ton of force. It's almost ridiculous actually. This is FAR easier to use.I'm not joking here or making up some review. Look at my other reviews. I'll eviscerate when it's warranted. G7TH rules the roost. I have 4 of them. 2x v2's, 1x v3, and a partial capo.YOU WILL NEVER LOOK BACK!

How many capos does a guitarist really need to buy? So I asked for it as a gift! I just had to find out what the big deal is about these capos...people either love or hate them. I don't read instructions so it took me a minute to figure out how it works, duh. At first I was squeezing too hard but it only takes a little pressure to set up, and again a little pressure on the tab to release and remove. I couldn't see how the adaptive radius mechanism works under the string pad so I guess that'll remain a secret. I've noticed another manufacturer is using compensated string pads for the same effect (requiring me to buy another capo). After using the G7th for a few weeks I have grown to like it for it's ease of use and because I don't have to retune as much, and I don't notice any string buzz. However, there are other capos I like as much but they cost me much less.

The G7th Performance 3 ART is a big improvement over the V1. I honestly didn't use the V1 much and stuck to using a Shubb. The V3 seems to be much better and it has replaced the Shubb as my main capo. I do still find that using my right had to set the capo works better than trying to set it 1-handed, but it IS possible to set in 1-handed. It IS easier to remove during a song. Is it worth the price? I don't know. You can buy 2-3 Shubbs for the price of one G7th, but it IS cool and works pretty well, but the Shubb does a good job. The G7th does NOT work 2-3 times better than a Shubb.
