I only get 12 in a box and I use them all during the course of the winter when I go up to check on my lake house. I usually have to buy more. I would say that they probably don't expire for awhile. I have used the last few in the 2nd box that I bought the year before and they are fine.

Why can’t I buy this in California? REI sells them.

It's California. They consider it hazardous waste and something you can't be responsible to handle.

Can you use one bag for more than one time on the toilet?

Yes, I typically get 3-4 goes of liquid or 2 liquid and a solid from each bag. As long as you aren’t moving your toilet. Just make sure to not overfill so you can close the outside ziploc bag.
