This is a GREAT book on the PE world. It has everything I would have expected to see. It is crystal clear. It is beautifully laid out. The supporting website and articles and its companion book of case studies are terrific - easy to read, very interesting and thought provoking. As someone who moved from industry into the world of PE and started a first time fund I recognise everything here. It is up to date, clear and interesting and I wish very much that it had been available when I started out. Thank you Claudia, Michael and Bowen - a great job!

My current role at my firm sits in the PE investment side. However, I am neither a novice nor an expert. Having 20 years experience on Wall Street but only 5 in PE, it is hard to find a new position in PE without fully talking the talk and understanding every aspect of the business. This book is everything I hoped it would be - logically organized and thorough, yet approachable. The perfect balance of depth and breadth. I find myself using it now to prepare for interviews and refreshing my knowledge of PE practices in my day to day job. Having worked in PE for 5 years, I still did not have a full handle on the process and sometimes it takes a reference guide to walk you through the steps and the motivations behind each of the players. I've had quite a few light bulb moments where I thought - wow that makes perfect sense yet I did not realize at the moment. This book has been perfect for filling in the gaps of knowledge that I had. Just moved to this sector and needed to upskill quickly. This book was recommended for me as a good starting point, and I have read many books on PA after and... go back only to this one. It is well written with good examples so even if you are no PE expert you can follow. I like it!
