Fun introduction to art history
This is a very readable and lavishly illustrated history of art. Though it focuses on painting, much of what it says applies to all art media. Highly recommended for anyone who knows little about art history.

From the very beginning. Pictures, contexts, techniques and materials are described from the pre-historic times to the abstraction and modernism of the XX century. I recommend this book to know and understand “how art was made”.
