A Woman of No Importance is Oscar Wilde’s classic play about the struggles of a woman in a patriarchal society. The play follows Lady Hunstanton, a high-society woman, and her guests as they navigate the problems of society’s rigid code of conduct. Lady Hunstanton’s son Gerald is in love with a woman with a mysterious past, while her other guests attempt to cover up a scandalous secret. This classic play is filled with wit, humor, and commentary on societal norms. It is a timeless exploration of gender roles, class, and morality in a world where the rules of society are not always fair. Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) was an Irish playwright, novelist, poet, and wit. He was one of the most prominent figures of the late Victorian era and a leading light of the Aesthetic Movement. Wilde is best known for his plays “The Importance of Being Earnest” and “An Ideal Husband”, as well as his novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. His work was heavily influenced by his Irish background, as well as his love of the theater. His witticisms and epigrams are still widely quoted today. Wilde was also an outspoken critic of Victorian morality, often challenging the conventions of the day. His personal life was also the subject of much controversy and he was imprisoned for two years for “gross indecency”. Wilde’s life and work have inspired generations of writers, artists, and thinkers. He is still regarded as one of the most influential writers in English literature. Review: Oscar Wilde is one of history's greatest and most profound satirists! - Oscar Wilde left the world with plays which ingeniously combined flighty comedy, tragic occurrences, Malapropisms, worldly and modern sentiments, old-fashioned and foundational traditions and endings where, despite the obstacles involved (and sometimes against ALL odds), true love prevails. Tragically, typical homophobic societal "norms," particularly when he lived, forbade his life from ending in the manner of many of his works. Shameful...he truly was martyred for his brilliance and his convictions. Review: WWII - Writing is a little dry but very interesting.

A Woman of No Importance is a tiny paperback.
Tiny script makes it unreadable for me. I bought the paperback. The low price makes it not worth sending back.

This is not a legitimate copy of anything Oscar Wilde wrote.
This is supposed to be a play written by Oscar Wilde. It doesn't read that way. It's as if a Japanese play had been translated into Romanian and then translated into English from a non-English speaker, with a rudimentary knowledge of the written language. The mistakes are much worse than in closed captioning on television. Ex: "You had higher sit down by me." "Or turned into it her toes?...I remorse it very a lot. She became made to be an ambassador's spouse. She absolutely has a exquisite college of remembering people's names...". I realize Oscar Wilde's works are in the public domain, but this is not any sort of dialogue he would have written. I feel cheated to have paid for such a clumsy attempt at presenting this play. It cannot be a legitimate script. Maybe it was transcribed by a deaf person who reads lips badly.

Powerful story of regret, pride and lost love
Great audio book! I listened to it three times. Powerful story of regret, pride and coming to terms with lost love.

Great play, very slim edition
I won't write of the play itself which I think is worth having and reading. Instead, a few words on this edition. You cannot beat it on price. Though sturdy, the book is bare bones. No introductions. No cast of characters. I even noticed a few typos. At least once, a speech is attributed to the wrong character. Were I buying this play in bulk for a performance or a reading, I'd buy this edition. For my library, I'd be less inclined.

Essenziale

My favorite book
This book is absolutely amazing. It has become, from the first 2 pages, my favorite book and believe me, I have read many! It is very thin and very easy to read but so consistent. I would not dare to describe too much, would not want to spoil the pleasure of the perspective readers. Highly recommended.

Absolute rubbish
this reads as though it had been translated in Russian, then Japanese and then Ancient Greek and back to English.

Oscar 100%
This is a very nice story by Oscar Wilde, anyone who reads Oscar will know it. I do not feel I have the expertise to review this book, but the only thing I can say is that it travels you to another period of time, so it's recommended for people that wish to look through Oscar's eyes in the 19th century of English world.
