Trade Winds - Handmade Luxury Shaving Soap from Chiseled Face Groomatorium

This is more of a soft soap, not a puck. Easy to load the brush from this and build lather on your face. Smell is good and the lather is slick.

A good soap. Stable lather and the scent of there . Slick on the skin.

Sturdy lather and a nice smell. It stands up well to shaving with a straight razor or double edge blade. In fact it has quickly become my go to shaving soap when using the straight edge since it has a thick, firm lather that protects but is still smooth and allows the blade to glide over my skin.

After getting the sample pack of 9 different soaps, I liked the scent of Trade Winds the best. Chiseled Face has a wide variety of scents and a great soap base that makes a good lather. This one is high in my soap rotation for wet shaving.

I had no idea that soap could change the world so much. I feel cleaner, smoother and more positive about the planet.

The product lathers really well and works well with the brush. It goes on a little thin, but is still fine with the razor. The reasons to give it three stars is for the thin lather and the smell. When I say thin lather I mean that it never gets really fluffy like marshmallow cream. It’s more like just using a bar of soap and creating a lather from that. It’s soapy and stands up, but it’s not fluffy to me. It also doesn’t seem to do much in the way of moisturizing. I generally use Mitchell’s wool fat or Blades Grim, so I like thick fluffy lather that delivers a lot of moisture to the skin so that I don’t have to use moisturizer after. Especially in the winter months. The smell is fine, but it smells a lot like Irish Spring soap. It immediately took me back to the days of my childhood with that old green bar. It’s not overly strong and it doesn’t hang with you for very long, so all in all it’s not bad, but not necessarily unique either. I’m the end I gave this soap three stars and for me that seems fair. I look for thickness of lather, moisturization from the lather, and smell. When those three come together perfectly then that’s a product I love. This product isn’t bad at all, but it just falls a bit short on those three fronts for me. I expected more for the price and probably won’t drop the coin for this one again.

This is a tremendous product. Scent not over powering but strong. I have been wet shaving for 30 years and this is one of the best soaps I have used.
