“…The Fate Of Bug Island Is Hanging In The Balance …”
With “Battle Bugs: The Komodo Conflict”, Jack Patton exceeds himself as he writes what may be the final book in the “Battle Bugs” series. Receiving an emergency summons, Max Darwin returns to Bug Island just in time to help in their defense against an invasion by General Komodo’s reptile army.In “Battle Bugs: The Komodo Conflict”, well developed bug characters having likeable personalities and their ingenious human friend Max Darwin, again combine forces to defeat their villainous reptile foes. In his continuing attempts to overtake Bug Island, General Komodo has employed a covert operative who provides intelligence about the bugs’ planned defenses. The final resolution of the conflict will satisfy readers.Jack Patton is a clever author who knows how to appeal to young readers. Imbuing the bugs with human personalities, yet allowing them to remain “buggy” adds appeal to the story. Max’s friend Steve and the unanticipated consequences of his science fair project – an exploding volcano – provide the book’s comic relief. Readers in the target age group will find the results quite humorous. As an adult, I did miss the clever humor Patton used in naming bugs that was associated with their battle function. The battle scenes are exciting and suspenseful – young readers and listeners immerse themselves in the action on Bug Island.Patton slips interesting, educational facts and observations into the text so subtly that they become part of the story and a reader learns something without knowing their knowledge is increasing. Like the other five Battle Bugs books, this book has a significant amount of natural history information. More detailed information is provided in a section following the story's conclusion. Facts about specific insects that have played a major role in the book are highlighted. The vocabulary used in “Battle Bugs: The Komodo Conflict” is not simplistic and adds another educational facet to the story. Brett Bean’s numerous, detailed Illustrations increase this book’s appeal for younger readers and for youngsters to whom you may be reading. Each offering of the Battle Bugs books is better than the last and “Battle Bugs: The Komodo Conflict” is no exception. It is exciting and the story flows smoothly and logically. It is an interesting story and, for the target audience, the situations are suspenseful. My grandson loves the Battle Bugs series and has eagerly been asking when his copy of “Battle Bugs: The Komodo Conflict” will arrive.“Battle Bugs: The Komodo Conflict” may be my favorite in this series. The writing seems more sophisticated and the bug characters more human in their reactions and their speaking. The story is interesting and the conclusion satisfying.

It always makes me feel good when I read the book . I read it over and over again .
Hi readers, 2nd grader here. I rated for 5 stars ⭐️ 'cause I think this really teaches me something about "Battle Bugs in real life"🕷 . In this book, there is a general Komodo( the Komodo is the bad one and the bug is the good one) and a General Barton bug. The Komodo dragon general was trying to steal bug island. In this wonderful and adventurous book, see how the bugs end General komodo once and for all! Good luck reading!
