Solid unit prevents mistakes
Well built, cool, and quiet. I like that they use two different socket styles, American for 110 and European for 220. Some competing units use the same American-style socket for both voltages, making it easy to plug into the wrong one and destroy your appliance. 11/23/2016. I have stopped using this transformer. It was tripping my circuit breaker when I turned it on, like there was a transient of some kind. A competing unit of similar capacity didn't trip the breaker. I may be close to the capacity of my circuit breaker, but this design was a problem for me. I am otherwise pleased with its construction, and will use it if I ever have a load with more of a margin.

Well built trouble free unit
I ordered a tube audio amplifier from China and I was sent a 220-volt unit. Rather than wait for another month or so to get a replacement amp, I ordered this voltage converter from Amazon and received it the next day. I just read the instructions, plugged it in with the appropriate cord, set the voltage input switch (it converts voltage both ways) and I was in business listening to music on my tube amp! It doesn't hum or get hot at all and has worked flawlessly ever since. Great, well made product!

Works flawlessly
This is both a step and and a step down transformer. Make sure you are going the correct direction. I bought a centerfuge from Europe and forgot they use 220V there. This was a very inexpensive option to fix my problem. We have been using it for several months now and it performs without a flaw. It’s small so it fit on the counter without a problem. It doesn’t get hot so I can have other equipment around it. The only problem I had was when we set it up my tech set it up for 230 to 120. The device took the power without any problems but the centerfuge wasn’t working. I got called in and noticed the problem. Once the lines were reversed it has worked flawlessly.

So far so good - 1 day
Was easy to set up, worked well in my specific application, model RR, producing a 6v DC current from 230v AC stepped up from 120v AC. The round socket for the EU outlet was a little loose, I had to jam the EU plug into it to make it stay in place. I interpret "Sheerness" to be the size & weight of the unit relative to the current produced. The unit is pretty big and heavy for my relatively small table. But in the end it worked fine.

Four years of usage while deployed in Europe
We have 5 of the 7 wattages (and a half dozen or more of the 150 watt unit) that are offered of the Krieger Transformer, from 150 watts to 1700 watts. We're currently in year 4 of a 7 year deployment in Belgium, and I don't mind telling you we miss our US appliances more than anything else. Okay, Costco, Sprouts and Home Depot rank high up there on the miss list too, but this is all about living in Europe and having some US electrical device that outperform their European counterparts by a wide margin. The Belgian people are wonderful, but living in Europe is a tough transition if you're doing anything more than working and sleeping. For our rather sizable collection of non dual voltage electrial devices that we simply didn't want to repurchase over here or leave behind, we use Krieger Transformers. This includes vacuum cleaners, printers, televisions, receivers, fans, you name it. Some we have eventually had to replace and there were 220v viable options, but some things, like fans, we gotta stick to the US offerings. Sure, our Air King fan motors probably don't like the 50/60Hz switcheroo, but they're doing fine so far and oh my, do we use them, because European fans can barely move a feather at full speed. You can see where this might be a problem since Belgium can hit some seriouly high summer temps and yet the entire country seems to hate central A/C with a passion. So you're stuck with portable A/C units in the house that aren't exactly stellar performers when it hits triple digit F temps, and fans every other time it's too warm to handle with just the windows open. Thank you Krieger Tranformers, for all you do for my Air King floor fans! Speaking of windows, did you also know Europe doesn't seem to like SCREENS on windows? And it's mosquito central over here! I've ended up making my own screen inserts for our house windows to fight back against the demonic mosquito contagion, thanks to my compound miter saw and...you guessed it...a 1700 watt Krieger Tranformer. Oh, and the necessary parts to make the window screens courtesy of Amazon US and their APO shipping friendly policy. So trust me, these Krieger Transformers are the real deal, can handle 24/7 usage without overheating and keep things humming along for as long as you need them. Highly recommended.

Works as intended but dont forget to buy a quality adapter
Reseller (who is not Krieger) sent a previously opened package so be aware Otherwise this works great and I advise people who are looking at a transformer to BE CAREFUL when selecting these online as many use cheap components which WILL fail and some may be dangerous. I am an electrical engineer and this is something you don't want to cheap out on so pay a little bit more for a quality product. NOTE - you will also need to purchase a suitable plug adapter for your country. I would also recommend not cheaping out on this as have used many cheap ones that have sparked or smoked so this time I also purchased a KRIEGER adapter 4-pack as shown in photo All worked perfect for an Australian soundbar and subwoofer that cost $600 and runs on 240v working in the USA

Preliminary review
Product came without protective packaging. Haven't plugged yet but the assembly is subpar. How hard is it to make edges straight and not bend the casing??? An American company using a German name manufacturing in China with no QC... might be returning if there is noise..

Build quality is good but could be better as there are some scratches on the metal cover (sides near the screws). The rubber feet are not leveled the unit does not level properly on the floor. However supplied cables and packing is good quality. Does the voltage conversion properly. I did not hear noise from the unit so far.
