Senior Dog Supplement - Cognition Chews, Chicken, 90 Ct

My dog started randomly at night for hours panting, hyperventilating, barking excessively.. very similar to her separation anxiety attacks or when she hears thunder. The first time I thought it was just something she was hearing but when it became the 4th and then 6th night of this from 8pm to almost 2am I knew it was a bigger issue so I booked a vet appointment and started researching. Mainly kept reading it could be CDS, aging in pets (dementia, extra anxiety, etc), or more severe underlying issue. Hence, the vet appointment. I stumbled on an article about a woman talking about the same systems and talking about brain memory and her dog being older and she tried these treats. Let me just say… these treats have been a LIFESAVER! My dog is almost 12 and after reading about dog brain functionality and calming remedies I decided to try these cognitive treats. Not only does my dog love them but after 1 week of her taking them daily I noticed a huge change in her anxiety and we both finally get to sleep like normal. Definitely would recommend anyone who is dealing with a pet whose getting older and need brain memory support and help with anxiousness.

I’m trying these from my 4 pound toy shiztsu who has serious dementia and degenerative myopathy. He’s stopped eating and stares off into space. He’s losing function of his back legs and it’s just heartbreaking to watch. He’s only 9 and this is progressing a warp speed since last month.While hem’s not in pain according to the vet, his eyes are empty and lifeless. I know we’re losing him but I’m not willing to give up yet! If you’re reading this, you’re probably not either.I’m writing this review even though it’s only been two days. If your dog is not eating and will not consume one of these chews, you can mash it up with a little water or better yet coconut oil to liquify. Then put it in his mouth with a little dropper. My little guy Kilo gobbles it up with no problem along with a liquid calorie and vitamin supplement. I’m using the coconut oil for calories and because it has fatty acids. I’m not sure if we see any improvement quite yet but I wanted to suggest the liquifying technique to anyone who might skip these because their dog isn’t chewing solid food.I’ll come back with an update in 2 weeks. I’d hug you all if I could!Update:It’s been two weeks and these had made a DRAMATIC difference. Kilo is eating again, the sparkle is back in his eyes, he’s engaging and meets me at the door, he’s even walking better and not falling. Its been nothing short of a miracle!! We missed a couple days last week and it there was a very noticeable change for the worse - slept all day, refused to eat, staring into space. I’m just speechless and incredibly grateful to this company for giving us more time together and for Kilo, a better quality of life!Update Feb. 9th:We did end up losing Kilo at the end of January. Ultimately, he just stopped eating and drinking altogether. Even mixing the supplement with coconut oil which he loved was a no go. It was just a week from when stopped eating and to his leaving this earth. He died at home in my arms, he was not suffering but his little brain just had run out of steam.I wanted to thank Zesty Paws and the Alpha Brain company for creating this powerful product. It gave us 3 more quality months we never would have had without it. I wish I had known about it sooner. Neurological disease is insidious and cunning. It can easily present as something else and why it was diagnosed only by process of elimination after several months of Kilo going downhill. These helped my Lucy so much! You can tell the difference since she’s been taking them. She’s a 15 yr old basset/beagle mix and was having anxiety and confusion. She would wander the apartment whining and wouldn’t want comfort. These helped her calm and much more with her cognitive abilities. They helped bring back the younger Lucy. I know she doesn’t have years left until she has to cross the rainbow bridge but they are helping ease her life until she will. She also enjoys the taste and considers them a treat! Win win chicken dinner! Which she loves. 😉

We have a 20 year old Bichon and before we bought this she was very far gone, I’m sure she has dementia for a while and I figured trying this as a last stitch effort to help get some normalcy. It’s been nearly two months since she started taking this and at first there wasn’t much difference but she loved eating them (she’s very picky with food so I was elated she liked something) so we might as well keep at it. But now she’s started to respond to her name being called again which is a small victory since she hasn’t done that in months. I’m curious to see what else will happen after continuous use. If your dog is in the stages of dementia, I reckon this is worth a shot in trying. But I imagine the sooner you start this the better the results will be.

One of these in the morning, in combination with 1.5 mg of melatonin per night, has really improved symptoms of cognitive decline in my 14 year old beagle chihuahua mix. Our vet recommended these. We saw a difference after a few weeks. Hard to believe a supplement could make such a difference.

My 12 year old golden has been on this supplement for several months now. The reason for starting it was just to promote healthy aging, not because we were noticing deficits. To our surprise, within a week or so we were seeing him demonstrating more energy and more of the golden retriever life is good behavior. More playful. We’re staying with this for sure

Our boy Crosby is now 12 and starting to show his age, which sadly includes some signs of dementia.After reading reviews on Amazon and other sites I decided to give the Zesty Paws Cognition Chews a try. We are also giving him Zesty Paws Vision Bites since his eyes are getting cloudy. FYI there is only one common active ingredient and only three inactive ingredients that are not in common between them.It's been two weeks since we started giving the dosage recommended and Crosby's symptoms are getting worse, not better. He is now pacing at night, yelping for no apparent reason during the night, and having trouble seeing. This was not happening prior to giving him these chews and started withing 3 days of initial administration.We realize aging can come on fast, but it appears these supplements have only made things worse, so we are no longer giving them to our boy.Our recommendation: Don't waste your money.

I bought this by accident for my senior pup who has anxiety and mild dementia. I had been buying the calming/cognition variety, and that was really helping manage his anxious behaviors like obsessive licking and wandering around the house. The label for the cognition bites looks almost identical to the calming and cognition variety, and I didn't pay close attention when I bought it (maybe I need cognition bites too). I didn't realize my mistake until about 10 days of feeding Mr. Puppers the cognition-only bites when his anxious behaviors kept worsening. I switched back to the calming variety, and his anxiety has been gradually decreasing. We also do Honest Paws CBD oil, a very low dose of trazodone at night for sundowning, and as much exercise, laying in the sun, and fresh air as possible.So, for my dog's specific situation, the cognition bites aren't super-helpful. Maybe they just made him more aware of his anxiety 😂. He also refuses to eat both these and the calming bites as treats, so I just crumble them into his wet food, and suddenly it's a prized delicacy. They're soft and crumble easily, great for mixing into food, but not so much if you just want to give a half and save the other for later. It's on the pricier end for dog supplements, but at this point I'm kind of resigned to spending more money on my dogs than myself.
