Sweet, happy book
This book was so popular that we bought our own copy, and let the library have theirs back. The story line is simple, and has a few hints that it might be inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. The pictures are sweet and worth looking at.

Post-Modern Folk Tale Revisit
A combination of references to old fairy tales and a little modern surrealism, designed to amuse adults reading the book and yet gentle enough not to scare very young children. It's a fun tale of independence and innocence.

She shares her cookies with a nice wolf and a baby hedgehog gives her a flower ...
Clara, with her basket of snacks and sweater, is on her way to her grandma's house for the first time by bus. The other fellow travellers are characters themselves, some knitting, some napping (and napping....). She shares her cookies with a nice wolf and a baby hedgehog gives her a flower (I love the hedgehog family!)There are all sorts of persons on this bus, big, small, busy, nappy, reading, eating ... the illustrations are fun and almost look like they've been knitted onto the page. There is even a bit of adventure on this trip!A good story that teaches diversity, courage and generosity.

A Nice Bus Ride
For full review, please type in a search engine "5 Girls Book Reviews" and on FacebookREVIEW BY: Angelina, age 8 years, 11 monthsMAY CONTAIN SPOILER:This book was super good too! It is about a girl who is going on the bus and there are animals on the bus. There is a little fox on the bus and the little girl thought the fox looks nice and she sat with the fox. They ate cookies.

A new way for Little Red to visit Grandma.
A little girl rides the bus to grandma’s. It’s her first time by herself, and she’s all packed for the ride: she’s got a snack and a sweater, in case she gets cold. The Bus Ride is a sweet story about a little girl’s bus ride with a group of animal passengers, including a goat who offers her a flower, a little wolf with whom she shares cookies, and a pickpocket fox. There are little visual winks to sharp-eyed readers, including changing newspaper headlines and quirky passenger behavior, which always make for a fun, participatory read-aloud. Kids will love catching these little elements, and the largely wordless text will encourage you and your readers to tell big stories about each passenger on the bus.The bus interior features on each two-page spread of the book, really letting the art breathe. Let the kids in your life discuss or illustrate their own bus ride to grandma’s – what would they see? Who’s on the bus with them? The Bus Ride is a fun addition to storytime collections. Read it along with the fairytale classic Red Riding Hood and see if kids can spot the similarities!
