Great winch for the money
Have used it at least a dozen times between self recovery and recovering other vehicles. It resides on my Land Rover usually loaded down with gear. Heated up once and it stalled. Let it cool for a couple of minutes and it got me over the obstacle. Has always fired off whether I'm in Moab in July or a down pour on a 10,000 foot peak in CO. It's Not a $1000+ winch. It's an entry level winch as described. I've had mine over 4 years now, still working, nothing broken. It's been drowned a few times through deep river crossings and has always worked when needed. It will stall now and then if pushed. Let it cool down a couple of minutes and it will be back to work. I've never had an issue contacting superwinch. They've been prompt to get back to me. Take the bad reviews for whatever you think it's worth. If your looking for a decent winch under $500 this is it. You want a faster winch with a nice lasting paint job, spend over a $1000 on one. I have no ties or connections to Superwinch. Just used their products over the years and believe them to be a good, reputable company.

Cant beat it for the money!
I have had this winch on my jeep for only 2 months now, but have 9 recoveries to date. On the trail or in this winter record blizzard we have had here in MO it performs time and time again. The line speed is a little slow compared to some other winches but if you are not competing I dont see this as an issue. Built strong and with quality parts, nothing less than you would expect with Superwinch's name. This model is relatively new to the Superwinch line. I hope in the near future to see more accessories available for the LP winch line. For the money I have never seen a more reliable winch especially carrying a top of the line brand name. Thanks Superwinch for quality and Amazon for an unbeatable price!

A Good winch, and good price when purchased on a sale.
After using the winch now twice, I figured I would give my opinion so far. I like the capacity for sure. I used it on the last run. The hand held remote is big and sturdy feeling, but the snap back of the momentary switch for in and out was so strong it actually reversed the direction. This can be avoided by not just taking my finger off, but actually moving back to the neutral position, but since it was unexpected, it was a safety concern for me (safety is my Master's Degree, so I think about those things). The winch main unit is good with a very useable design and simple operation. Nothing fancy there.Overall, a good winch, but there were flaws. The overall size of the winch is smaller than the old XRC8, and that is a plus. Overall, probably 4 out of 5 tires (a 4x4 scale).

well to start off this review, i love the item, hate the shipping option, my unit came 5 days late, and i had to call the shipper to figure out why.. so the install was so easy and the use , well there is 2 part u touch, the button, and the disarming or engage handle , i got it with a 20000 snatch block, i have 8500 pound tractor, i chocked my wheels and hooked it up to see what would happen, it went great i pulled it 5 feet and my rover slid about 2 feet (on a dirt gravel road). so my tester went better then i thought, i am sure i can pull 2 of my cars out of a mud pit as long as my battery can take the discharge.. so next item is a deep cycle gel cell just for the winch.. but if u get an option do not use amazons crappy shipping services , unless u want to wait 2 weeks . usps and ups 3-5 days.. not 16 days later..

Greatest winch i've found for the price
Installed this on my jeep wrangler off roader. I've had it over a year now and have used it atleast 15-20 times and it has never failed me wether pulling myself out or pulling others out. It even worked completly submerged under water. Ordered a neopreen cover to keep it out of the weather when not in use.

Versatility
I have 2 of these winches on my 4x4 suburban and one on my jeep. The most recently purchased one was mounted inside of a custom rear bumper. Its used for recovering a vehicle by being able to pull it onto my car hauler. These winches are great for the money. So far, knock on wood, I haven't had any trouble with any of them. Highly recommend to anyone that needs a winch.

Such A Deal This would have been cheap at Twice the price
I bought this Winch and then added a few small items. I changed the Steel Rolls on the infeed for the Nylon rollers. That way I could use the new synthetic rope/winch cable. I pulled the Steel Winch cable. Which was 80' and installed 16500 lbs synthetic rope.I was able to fit 100' of it on the spool. I used a plugin carrier for the winch and bought a front end hitch for my truck. I also have a front and rear hitch for my other 4X4 plus I have wired it for the plug in winch as well. I took the money I saved from only having to buy one winch and now have ordered a video camera so next time I can do one of these for face book. dray

Save your money!!!!!!!!!
I never submit reviews so this is saying something. Great price from Amazon but the winch and the non-existent customer service aren't worth buying this. I bought this winch 10 months ago.Within the first 5 weeks of installing it the solenoid went out on it.Called them up and after a brief interrogation from a non friendly employee they sent me a new one.It took 2 weeks to get it.(the first sign of how much they care about taking care of the consumers) About 2 months after installing the winch it looked like it had been on my truck for 5 years. The paint job must be done in the worlds cheapest paint. It's faded and pretty ugly quick. No big deal but just another sign of how cheaply made these winches are.The seal around the gear side of the winch started leaking almost immediately and creates a nice blown gasket look on the one side of the winch. The plug where the remote goes is broken due to the cheap plastic it's made out of.That happened almost immediately and was no fault of the operator.(Just cheaply made parts)The wires on the remote unit are pulling out of the back of the remote by about 3 inches with no way to re-insert them. Now to top it off after only 10 months of very occasional use(maybe 10 times)the solenoid has gone out again. Here's where it really gets great with this low budget company.I called tech support as I had the time before when this happened.(the winch is still under warranty )Nobody answered so I left a message with my contact information and the serial number, date of purchase and so on....3 days later still no call,so I called them again.Guess what... no answer again....left my name and ontact information again.....5 days later no call back.....good thing i just bought this for looks and don't need it to actually work huh?The following monday I called back and asked the receptionist Pam for whoever claimed to be in charge of the place and was put through to the voice mail of the customer service managers voice mail...I left a very detailed message about the trouble I was having and asked that he please call me to rectify the situation and did so in a courtious manner.....4 days later and no call back.....WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!I called a back a fourth time and got ahold of someone in tech support(an actual living human this time)I told him the problem with the winch and he said "oh yeah just send it in and we'll replace it"I asked him if it was still under warranty why should I have to mail it in?"he said because they found out people were calling in getting new ones when they didn't need them"Yeah that sounds logical.......He them told me he would write up the claim and call me back in a few minutes with a claim number to put on the package I was responsible for shipping to them and paying for.....great huh... well guess what??????NO CALL BACK....so after 3 days I called him since I had asked for his name and extension.....He acted like no big deal here's the number..... So if you want an inferior product and the worlds WORST customer service for when not if it breaks down on you go ahead and buy a SUPERTERD WINCH!!!!!!! As for me I wish I had saved myself the aggrevation and money and went with a WARN......... Lesson learned....SUPERWINCH SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Superwinch 1510200 LP10000 Winch
