Faithfull Straight Gouge Carving Chisel 16mm (5/8in)

I don’t know much regarding woodwork- but this tool is magnificent . From the wooden varnished handle- to the forged metal- beautiful

Good all round quality, sturdy and once sharpened it cuts fairly well and seems to keep an edge for a decent amount of time. Be warned, though, it does need sharpening before you can use it. Edit. I've also bought some professional grade Kirschen chisels that cost a lot more (£20+ for each chisel) and the difference (the accuracy and cleanness of cuts) is clear. As carving chisels, I'd probably give these faithfull ones 2 compared to a 5 for them, but as a beginner chisel, for the price I'll keep it at 4. They do give you a decent edge once fully sharpened and give you a great chance to practice sharpening (which isn't as easy as you'd think and therefore it's better to practice on something cheaper). So, if you're just starting out get a couple of these (either a gouge and a vee tool or a couple of gouges) separately (rather than buying the full set) and then try to add better quality chisels when you can as you go along.

Very blunt out of the box, very steep cutting angle, so it’s hard to use and a LOT of work for a beginner to sharpen properly (and you’re probably a beginner if you’re buying a cheap chisel like this). I’d recommend saving your money and buying something of better quality, this one isn’t worth it.

Useless until properly sharpened and this can take a long time and needs proper materials to obtain a fine cutting edge

Very disappointing product. Much heralded but it seems not to possess a sharp enough edge to perform the task it is made for, viz. gouge wood.

fait son job, un peu lourd

I wasn't sure if the chisel would be any good but I LOVE it😁. I make pens and was looking for a gouge chisel that wasn't too expensive but still good quality. This one is great to work with and responds really well to sharpening. I've already ordered the next size up 😊

Perfecta, bien afilada buena curvatura. Muy contento (tengo el modelo arqueado de la misma marca que se supone que es redondeada pero la cuchillas es casi plana)

First of all it took 3-4 weeks for the delivery. Got it today June 24. The shaft is bent which means the handle is not straight and the copper ring around the handle is bent. Waste of money, piece of crap, and totally useless!
