I got these as a gift for my husband, who is learning Russian AND is obsessed with squirrels. I couldn't believe it when I stumbled across this perfect combination. These are absolutely delicious! The nuts mixed with the hard toffee inside almost has a coffee-ish flavor. I definitely recommend giving them a try. I will be getting more, for sure. Be careful when biting into them, though. The toffee is quite hard.

The Russian "Almond Roca" But More Chocolatey
I purchased Griilyash by the recommendation of one of my friends who is Russian-American, who calls them her childhood favorite. The texture reminded me of Almond Roca but Grillyash is more chocolate-y and less sugary than its American peer. The candies came in green paper boat-shaped wrappings that looked so beautiful. Seems like it is a Russian tradition to package candies in boat-shaped wrappings. Griilyash is really delicious but the flavor is very rich and strong, and best enjoyed when savored slowly.
