Arrived quickly. Works wonderfully for viewing slides & film negatives. Very easy to use.

4.5 stars, actually
The LED backlight is even and bright enough. I have trouble releasing mounted slides, unless the back of the viewer is tilted up a bit. I like the USB power, instead of batteries. Haven't yet tried unmounted film. At such a modest price, it's worthwhile for me. I'm sorting about 20 years worth of slides before sending them to be scanned. So this will pay for itself in the long run.

Works for initial screening
I inherited several thousand slides and film strips that needed to be triaged. This worked well to screen the slides many of which were of landscapes, flowers, etc. keeping only those of people and unique places. Due to the shape of the lens and the somewhat reflective sides, most slides showed some ghosting. However, it met my goal of screening slides. Images on film strips were not as satisfactory due to their relativly smaller format. It was possible to see enough of the image to choose individual photos for development. Ability to charge the internal battery with the included USB cable was a definite plus

Nice and bright - well made very reliable
Nice and bright - well made very reliable ... the early vintage 70's one I replaced due to a battery leak (thanks Everready!) required you push the slide down to activate the light. Here you have a light switch as well as the option for USB power.

Good for quick scanning
This is a nice, simple viewer for scanning through slides. The magnification is just OK, but good enough to see. The LED light is bright. The SLIDE EJECT button is worthless and I usually have to shake the unit to get the slide out. So I often just hold them in front of the lens or hold the slide and don't let it drop into the viewer completely unless I want a longer look. I have not used the cord yet, just on batteries.

Bright and easy to use
I've had it about three weeks and have viewed several hundred slides from the 1980s and 1990s. So far it's been nearly perfect. I had concerns before buying it. I read reviews about all the slide viewers including this one. All of them had complaints about major problems with slides sticking, about the image not being large enough, and about it not bring bright enough. None of those have been problems for me. Slides do once in a while stick inside the viewer, but simply jiggling the eject button and sometimes holding the viewer upside down has solved the problem. It hasn't happened often, and it might have been because I didn't press the eject button forcefully enough. I'm still experimenting with that. Brightness is not a problem. It's very bright. The image is clear and easy to see. Some reviews complain about 3" being too small, but I think it's a good compromise. A larger viewer would be less convenient to hold (though it won't matter as much to people who use it on a desk). Overall, I wonder why I didn't buy one of these decades ago.

Wore out too quickly
The slides started "hanging up" (not ejecting) very quickly. These were old slides but were kept in cubes & never used in over 20 yrs. I bought the viewer to go thru & decide which ones I wanted digitized. I had to use tweezers to get them out. They started hanging up on one side of the viewer. Was disappointed with how quickly the viewer wore out!

Exceptional Slide Viewer
I have had numerous slide viewers over the years, but this one is the best I’ve tried. It’s 3X magnification, the color is sharp, and it bright. I like the idea that it has a release button that drops the current slide into a tray which holds about 10 slides so you don’t have to take each one out one at a time. Very happy with this slide viewer. When you are looking for a particular slide this beats getting out a slide projector.
