Kind of coarse texture, but water does NOT catch in them at all.
I found quite a variety in the cell structure of the different grips (I have bought 3 sets, each for different bikes). These are a bit coarse, not too comfortable without gloves. But they are GREAT in the rain. They do not hold water at all.

these are good and comfy
If you have a large hand, these are good and comfy. They will help reduce numbness in fingers. They are too fat for me, specially if I'm wearing winter gloves. I prefer "Grip Puppies" which are smaller diameter.

These grips do reduce the numbing in my right hand but they do not eliminate it.
