This series has been one of my favourite anime since I first watched it and my opinion of it hasn’t changed on rewatching. One of the things I like most about the series is it’s setting of modern Britain with mythology and folklore (a lot of it Celtic, such as Leanan Sídhe and Sleigh Beggy) just beneath the surface. The animation and artwork for the series has been brilliantly done, with many beautiful scenes throughout (the scene of Chise returning home in episode twelve is one of my favourites from any anime). While this can is both a Slice of Life and Supernatural Romance series, there are still some nice, if short, action scenes that are also quite entertaining. The overall plot of Chise and Elias learning from each other, and their developing romance, is a bit of a slow burner but the individual “mystery of the week” type stories are very interesting and can get quite emotional at times, especially the Leanan Sídhe one. While I do prefer the Japanese vocal track, the English dub is still pretty good with the only part that sounded off being Janelle Lutz as Angelica, and that is only because her accent doesn’t really suit the slang used in some of her lines. Colleen Clinkenbeard, on the other hand, was great as Titania, and not just because this isn’t the first time she has played a character with that name. The DVD set I has didn’t have any special features, but I am not really a fan of those so I don’t mind and this first season is good enough to be worth the price, and five stars, on its own. Review: Ancient Magus Bride - amazing anime with beautiful visuals. blu ray came in perfect condition, couldn't get the subtitles to work with the english audio which is slightly annoying as americans love to mumble lol and i know i could just watch it with japanese audio with english subtitles but i love Chise’s english voice actor too much hehe

Awesome visuals
This Anime looks amazing and shows some great dedication to the animation art. Storyline I'm not so sure, it's very dark and often I hate to say it slow almost boring. I have a fairly large anime collection almost all of which is very enjoyable no matter which road it takes you, this is different. It's different, give it a chance although not everyone is going to enjoy it.

This set was purchased as a birthday gift and the recipient was thrilled to receive them. The outer box wasn’t damaged during shipping, the spines had no creasing, there was no pages falling out or printer ink spots in any of the pages! This is a quality product! Thanks 🙏

I wasn't sure I would like this series, but decided to take a chance and order it anyway. I am very glad I did. I found the story and characters very interesting and enjoyable, although sometimes a bit sad. If you liked the really great xxxHOLIC and/or Mushi-Shi anime series you will like this one equally as well, and probably for the same reasons. This Blu-Ray anime series consists of 24 episodes and as a bonus, 3 OVA episodes. As a footnote, the story here is fairly adult and not recommended for kids. Bottom line: If you like a great anime story with fully developed characters then give this one a try, you will not be disappointed.

Regarding the actual product, amazing quality in general: Comes with all 24 episodes plus the 3-part OVA. There are a ton of special features and you really get your money’s worth with this entire package. Comes dubbed and subbed—I watched the dub first and loved it—very professional voice acting. Occasionally, some words, phrases, sentences are structured differently in the dub than the sub, but it doesn’t take away from the show at all in my opinion. About the show itself, it’s a colourful fantasy journey with a strong aesthetic, emphasizing gardens, nice small villages, beautiful architecture, natural world is very intertwined with the supernatural—and the animation is top-tier. Definitely not for kids content-wise, but a great watch for teens and adults. To avoid spoiling anything, I will avoid talking about the actual plot, but I recommend doing a quick Google/YouTube search and look at some screenshots of the show (or watch the opening sequence) to see if it’s your cup of tea—it might be a bit disagreeable to those who are not used to the medium since there is a lot of vivid imagery (not necessarily explicit, just very different to what most people who have never watched anime might be accustomed to watching). In my opinion, it was refreshing both in terms of story and creativity. I usually do not bother with OVAs but I might start watching them more often after this one. One of the best pieces of animated storytelling I have ever seen. Just a heads up for first-time watchers though, the 3-part OVA takes place around episode 12 chronologically—the best thing to do in my opinion is watch up to episode 12, then watch the OVA, then continue to episode 13 and onward. But you can watch it whenever you like since there are few (if any) spoilers in the OVA. Fantastic series, highly recommend!
