Review: Easy set up - Large inside Review: Great little blind - This is a nice, simple and lightweight blind. It's roomy enough for me and my 10 yr old but may be a bit tight with two adults. I have the two person version. The material seems good but the side windows are a bit high and could use a few pieces of Velcro to keep them open. Not sure about durability, ok for now but the entire structure hinges on two small screws on each armrest. If they break or come loose it would affect the whole blind. Overall I'm impressed with the design, weight, and mobility.

Great blind
I bought the Ameristep 2 person chair blind last fall and hunted opening day of gun deer season in it. It was very easy to carry into the woods and set up in the dark. I did carry it without the supplied carrying bag, as the bag material is stiff and noisy. No problem carrying the closed blind by hand. Key thing in set up: make sure you pick a level spot or it can be front heavy. The weather was fierce during the day with a stiff wind from behind and blowing snow. The blind was very stable and protected against the wind. I did use the stakes to secure the bottom of the skirt. There is plenty of room for your backpack in the second seat. There is also room for a small heater in the leg space in front of the second seat. I used a Coleman Sport Cat that stands straight up. Helps to have one of those thick, round hunting cushions to put on the seat to fill the “bucket” and make the seat more level for comfort. 15 minutes after I set it up, 4 doe walked 12 yds in front, and didn’t seem to mind me at all as they foraged. Had 6 deer in front of me when I filled my buck tag later in the day. None seemed to pay any attention to the blind. Left it up overnight and it was just as I left it the next morning. Easy to take down—watch the fabric on each side, as it can catch on the chair arms when you put the canopy back. My friend’s wife used it this Fall for a successful bear hunt. She is a lefty and liked that she could switch seats to accommodate that. Helps to have a shooting stick, especially if you have a longer barrel.

Great Chair Blind/DONT TRUST AMAZON DESCRIPTION OF USED BLINDS
First of all let me say that this a great blind in most every way and a huge improvement over the one man version which I also have. Much more leg room and more ability to use the side windows. It also has a rear window which the one man version lacks. My only dislike is the seat which has a divider in the middle which prevents easy sliding from one side of the blind to the other if hunting alone. The blind has enough room for an adult and a youth but it would be tight. Two large adults would find this blind uncomfortably small in my opinion. I bought one of the used two man Ameristep Chair Blinds. It was described as “Acceptable “ with cosmetic blemishes on the top and sides. When I received the blind I found the seam that is located where the back of the chair meets the bottom of the chair had come unstitched for 6-8”. This is one of the most important seams on the entire chair since your bottom is seated on the fabric that it holds and there is a lot of weight and stress on the seam, especially if two people were hunting out of the blind. There were no cosmetic blemishes of any kind and no wear on the blind. Other than the seam issue and a little dirt stuck in the bottoms of the chair feet the blind appeared like new. The metal stakes and their pouch were also missing. Since the price was over $40 less than the new price I decided to keep the blind and repair it. It is very difficult to re-sew this seam without completely removing the fabric from the frame. I had to lightly stitch the seam in place and sew it permanently with an awl which produces a lock stitch and waxed nylon thread for strength. The fabric in this area is much too light for the weight it supports so after sewing the seam(probably 1 1/2 hours) I reinforced the seam area with self adhesive woven nylon tape used for repairing feed and grain sacks. I also stitched this tape in place since I didn’t trust the adhesive alone. Quite a labor intensive process and if I were not retired I would have returned the blind. My rating would be for a new blind in perfect condition since I didn’t want to penalize Ameristep for the condition of a used blind. UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW I have been using the blind for a little over a month now and I can see I made a mistake in buying a used chair blind listed as in “acceptable “ condition. The issues I described in the original review have gotten worse. More problems have started along the seams at the bottom rear of the two man seat. This is worst on the side Ibhave been sitting in. It appears that the fabric itself is too thin in some areas and the stitching was way too close to the edge of the material. Probably can’t return it at this point with the repairs I have already made so I will have to reinforce the material some way. After turkey season I will investigate taking the fabric off the frame and having a proper repair made at a shoe repair or sewing shop. Needle to say this will cost more than the $50 bucks I saved vs the cost of a new chair blind. The take away point here is DO NOT TRUST THE AMAZON DESCRIPTION OF USED ITEMS ESPECIALLY SOMETHING THAT THE AVERAGE PERSON DOING THE INSPECTING HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF(they probably didn’t even know what this contraption is) the original purchaser probably noticed the problem very early on and returned the chair blind for the reasons listed. The second take away point is SERIOUSLY INSPECT A NEW CHAIR BLIND FOR THE ABOVE PROBLEMS. The chair blind MUST be set up and set in with full weight on both sides, on uneven ground if possible, to flex as much as possible in order to really check the area of the important seams. Again, this is a GREAT BLIND and even better than I originally thought now that I have spent a lot of time in it. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again.
