The Cure to Engine Light! CRV 2012
I bought a generic one from AutoZone, but my engine light did not go away!!! You need to get the OEM!! Installed this one and problem solved. REMEMBER: you will also need to buy the Rldym Fuel Filler Cap Clip 91594-SNA-A01. You need this Clip to connect your gas cap to the body of the car for the CR-V 2012 and some other Hondas.

Good fit & Easy install
Just received today. Installed easily. Fits our 2012 Honda Pilot perfectly. Just remains to be seen whether or not it works properly and we don’t get a check engine due to the cap. Had read that the cable tether fitting is difficult to remove but found a how to vid on YouTube and it was easy to remove the clip and reinstall after putting in the new tether. Will see how it goes.

Fits very well and easily to screw on and off
Really great! It's much better than the regular non-Honda cap sold in auto-shops.

Works really well
I have a 2006 Honda Civic and started getting a "Check Fuel Cap" light constantly. I read some reviews and did some research about the problem and found on video about turning the rubber gasket on the fuel cap over (so the side which was against the cap is now against the fuel filler pipe). This worked for them, but didn't work for me. It was simple enough to try, so I did. I thought about purchasing a new gas cap, but thought it might be better to take it into the dealer to verify there weren't any problems with the evap system. I called the dealer to set up an appointment they told me it would be $150 to diagnose the problem and suggested I might want to try replacing the fuel cap. since the car was 12 years old, I figured the car was worth a new fuel cap. And if it didn't work, well, there was probably something more serious going on that it would be worth taking it to the dealer. To make a long story short, the new fuel cap solved the problem for me. It did take a day or two before the system re-calibrated, so just be aware that it may take a day or two for the message to go away. I would recommend that rather than trying to replace the fuel cap AND new restraining strap, to pry the old restraining strap off the old fuel cap (and likewise take the restraining strap off the new fuel cap), then simply put the existing (old) restraining strap on the new cap. I took the ring/restraining strap off the old fuel cap first (just in case I broke something, I would have the new cap and strap). I took this off by prying the ring with a couple small flat blade screwdrivers and worked it off the bottom of the fuel cap This was a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. And I found that trying to put the ring/strap on the new fuel cap in the reverse way was also difficult. I eventually put the ring/strap on the new fuel cap over the "TOP" of the new fuel cap and this was much easier. Your mileage may vary.

Not Much Fun to Install
As others have said, this is a genuine Honda repair part. I dropped the rating one star because the rotating ring that is part of the cap is a bit tight and drags the rubber tie up to the 12:00 o'clock position when you tighten the cap. I'm hopeful that this will wear a bit and will a be a bit more loose in the future. It's sad that you have to buy a whole new cap when the rubber tie breaks. Replacing the cap isn't much fun unless you know the secrets. To get the small plastic part that holds the end of the rubber tie out of the metal around the gas filler, push it down and turn a quarter of a turn (clockwise if I remember correctly). Once you have it out, it's a clam shell that divides in half (I think there's a slot into which you insert a small screwdriver) to remove the end of the rubber tie. Be careful. That tiny piece is another genuine Honda part, and I'm sure they sell a lot of them. To put the end of the rubber tie back in, drop the end in the groove of that small plastic piece with the bigger, thinner part of the end outside the plastic. Snap the halves of the clam shell together. It may take some pressure. Then put the bottom nub of the plastic piece into the metal opening from which it originally came out. Push down and turn a quarter turn to tighten it. The end of the rubber tie should be close to the gas cap.

Perfect fit for Acura RDX 2014, challenge to get tether plastic housing sorted out
Nice to see OEM Honda parts fit my Acura. To combat the dreaded "Loose Gas Cap" warning and the subsequent "Check Emissions Control" system light that I narrowed down to P0455 fault code [EVAP System leak detected - Large Leak] using an Ancel OBDII code reader, I decided to switch out the gac cap & tether. Gas cap fit fine, but tether removal was a major challenge. I finally found another Amazon review that explained that there is a clamp release on the bottom of the tether plastic clamshell housing. I inserted a small flat head screwdriver behind it and applied a little pressure to release the clamp that held the plastic housing in place. Once released, I could slide it down and off (still attached to the old gas cap via tether). Inside the house, I tried unsuccessfully to push down on the #2 clamp ends on the right and left sides of the clamshell housing while trying to open the clamshell. In the end, I must have loosened something, because I then inserted my small flat head screwdriver into the opening and turned a little to hear a click and then the clamshell opened. I removed the old tether and installed the new tether in seconds, closing the clamshell again (click) and reinserting the housing back into the opening in the gas cap metal housing, pushing it up until the first clamp reengaged. Now waiting to see if I see another Loose Gas Cap or Check Emissions Control System warning light...

It doesn’t fix the problem / waste of money
My cousin’s honda civic 2010 had a message saying “check gas cap” and sometimes the check engine would come on and off and i figured it would need a new gas cap after scanning the car with a obd2 machine. I bought this gas cap and for some reason the delivery was a week late even tho i paid extra to get it in 2 days or so. When i received it i went to my cousins place and reset the code and install the new gas cap. I took the car for a test drive and everything went well BUT as soon as i got at my cousins place the same message “check gas cap” showed up and after the check engine was on. I park the car and scanned it again with the obd2 machine and the same code was there This gas cap will NOT fix your problem , was a waste of money and was also not cheap If you want to risk it and waste your hard earned money go ahead and buy it The only positive thing is that it seems that is a genuine honda part but i’m not 100% sure

Beware very expensive.
Way to expensive for a fuel cap, dont buy from Honda! Go out and buy a non OEM, way cheaper.
