The book that has come to define my life
I first met The Little Prince in a college French class and my love for him has continued to grow for almost half a century since. For "les enfants" who meet him, he's wonderful, but grown ups need to remember that what is most important is invisible to the eye so grow and age with our mutual friend. My husband and I take our friend with us on every trip, reading a chapter aloud together, noting where we are when we read. We finish and then begin again for voyages with The Little Prince are never the same. We also collect a version of the book in the language of different countries we visit. I could add many meaningful encounters with him, but one he gave me will always speak to my heart. Thirty years ago when my dear sister was far from me and in the final weeks of her battle with cancer, I would read it aloud to her over the phone -- once again just a chapter or two each time. As we neared the end and the Little Prince gave that wonderful gift of a star to the pilot, she stopped me and said "You know, from my bed I can't see the stars tonight, but I can see the moon. So tonight I want to give you a gift.. I'm going to give you the moon. Now every time you see it you'll know that we are connected and although at first you may be sad, eventually you will smile and my read wish is that you will begin to look up at the moon and laugh because you'll know we are joined together -- and people around you may look at you funny and ask why you are laughing at the moon -- but you'll just tell them it was a gift from The Little Prince and your big sister.. "Ce qui est important est invisible aux yeux."

A Classic
This is the original French version of a classic. The story has touched the lives of both young and old. The enchanting illustrations were by the author who was well known writer and pilot.

Le Petit Prince โ mon opinion
Read this in the original French as a teenager. Easy to understand with at least middle level of French. Excellent, classical story for both children and adults. Translated into many languages including English, Spanish and Italian, which are also accessible in Amazon. The write also drew the pictures.

Trรจs Beau Livre pour Tous et Toujours
I read this book first for a high school French class and decided to revisit it a few years later. Once I opened the first page, I couldn't put it down. This is a heartbreakingly beautiful story about love, friendship, and innocence. When I first read it as a freshman, I couldn't believe I was being forced to read a book for "babies," and I skipped many of the pages and passages that I couldn't understand. However, this book is exceptionally powerful and goes much deeper than the average children's novel. It has important lessons and reminders for someone of any age, and as I've come back to it over the years, I've found new ones each time. There is an unexplainable magic and warmth that surrounds this book, and I would sincerely recommend it to anyone. There are benefits to buying this book in French, if you are able. The English translation is nice, but the French seems to be much more "complete" and satisfying. It reads like it was meant to be read. This book is also fantastic for language learning. I first read it in my third year of studying French, and while I found it to be difficult at the time, I was surprised by how much I recognized and was able to understand. All in all, in English or in French, this book is a classic for a reason, and I would encourage everyone to discover its spell for themselves.
