Better sound than their TV's
I finally got sick of the audio out of my Hisense TV and didn't want to take a chance on buying a different brand sound bar to actually be able to hear without having the volume up at 70 to 80 level.Set up was easy, way easier than expected and the volume when I switched it on was as loud as the loudest the TV had managed and way clearer. I had been worried that a Roku TV would cause issues but it said it would work and I wanted it to work both with the TV and other inputs (something that I struggled with when I had tried a different sound bar) but it works perfect. Only negative is that you need another remote to control the sound bar volume, if only it would respond using the volume up and down on the TV remote when it is a Hisense TV.All in all great for the price.

Great Budget Soundbar
I'm a home theater type of guy. Never been a fan of soundbars but I needed something cheap that would replace my bedroom TV internal speakers as they sound bad. It's a 2018 TCL Roku TV which also recognized the soundbar. Everything function as they should. Also bought it to play ambient sounds through bluetooth to go to sleep lol. Out of all 3 sound modes the movie mode is my favorite. Music mode has not much bass and is not warm as I like everything to sound. However that could be personal taste and you might find the other modes to better fit your listening. News mode is okay for, well, watching news. In conclusion, it's a solid sound bar and for the price it's an excellent choice to get a better sound experience out of your TV. As I mentioned I bought it for my bedroom and didn't want anything crazy. For a living room, however, I'd go with their bigger sound bar or do what I did and build yourself a dedicated home theater system for a much better sound; if money isn't the issue that is.

This is what good enough sounds like.
I purchased the HS214 to replace my old sound bar, as I'd lost the original remote and had no way to operate it any longer. The draw was the ARC HDMI connection, the face buttons (as opposed to no buttons), and the built-in subwoofer. For reference, I own an onn 65" 4K Roku TV thanks to Black Friday, and a killer gaming PC connected to it. Installing the bar was super easy. I already had the TV on, plugged in the power and HDMI cable, and it woke up on its own. I turned the TV off and it turned off. I don't think it gets much easier. I am able to control the volume with the TV remote. I was also able, with the original remote, to turn the brightness down/off on the LED indicator and to adjust the bass volume relative to the overall volume. Nice...The subwoofer is likely the big question with this bar. I have the settings set to movie, full crank on the subwoofer volume. I can't feel the bass, but I can hear it just fine. It's a 3" speaker with a 1/4" foam flex surround. This is best for people who live in apartments with thin walls (or some similar situation) that want at least some kind of bass to work with. The only drawback I've found is if too much time passes, the bar will shut off on its own, like a sleep function after 10-15 minutes. I can use the original remote or the face buttons to turn it on, or turn the TV off and back on. Not a big deal if you have media constantly running, but I use my TV as a computer monitor, so I'm not always making noise with it. There seems to be no clear way to change this. It's a common function in modern devices, so it is what it isIf this were a sound system that you could turn up and blow the windows out of the house, this would be a 5-star review and a 5-star product. This is a 4-star sound bar, and that's exactly what I wanted to purchase. It's not crystal clear, it's not a thunder generator, but for my purposes, it'll do just fine. Definitely sounds better than the stock TV speakers. I am satisfied with my purchase.

Pretty Good, one caveat
My 10 year old insignia tv kept giving me "HDMI Errors" and none of the diy remedies worked. I upgraded to a new 2022 Hisense TV with Roku built in to eliminate the HDMI Errors, but the only problem is the new TV has horrible sound. I am not a TV sound snob, but the sound really was terrible. I bought this sound bar hoping to improve the sound and it works great. Huge improvement in sound quality. It was a complete plug and play installation. This goes on when the TV goes on, and this goes off when the TV goes off. I use my TV(Roku) remote as normal. I never even put the batteries in the remote that came with the sound bar. No Need. Only thing different is my TV volume now increases by 5 instead of by 1. So instead of the sound going up 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.... it now goes 5,10,15,20. I am not sure why it does this, but I have not had a problem finding an appropriate sound level. I would recommend for anyone looking to improve the sound of a tv. I bought the 2.1 model for $80.UPDATE: I am lowering my rating. First time I used this at night I realized (which I had not noticed during the day time) there is a bright white light right in the middle of the sound bar shining at you. Obviously I placed this just under my tv, and it was awfully distracting trying to watch tv at night in the dark with a bright white light shining in my face. The light is behind the metal grill, which does not appear removable, so I had to put black tape over the grill to cover the obnoxious light. I am not as impressed as I originally was.

Decent Sound at a Great Price
I received this sound-bar approximately 2 weeks ago and decided that I’ve used it for long enough to give an informed personal opinion. I installed it under a TCL-Roku Tv. It took me awhile to get the HDMI arc settings to work with the sound-bar, but I finally succeeded. The sound is definitely superior to the tv speakers, but don’t expect miracles with a $79 sound-bar.I found the volume very low when the TV audio digital output settings were set to Auto or Passthrough. Setting the output to stereo solved the low volume issue.I find the blinking red light at the front of the speaker annoying, but since it’s not in a bedroom, it’s not an important issue for me.All in all, I’m happy with the sound-bar and am confident that as long as your expectations are realistic, you’ll be as well.
