If you sew, you need pins, and lots of them. Inevitably they get broken, bent, lost, caught in the dog's fur, stepped on by angry partners (don't worry, I have plenty more) and forgotten in abandoned projects. 100 pins is soon down to 50 and then you find you don't have enough to pin on a shirt pattern, let alone tackle a quilting projects. So buy a lot, is my advice, and this box is certain a lot. The pins themselves are fine - just like any other set of steel glass-head pins. The box they come in is big, and at first I thought this was unnecessary, but actually it is great. With a standard box of pins I tend to pour them out on to a surface - the floor usually, where I do my cutting out. This is because it is difficult fiddling about in a tiny box. Then, of course, the pins get stood on, blown away.... This box is big enough to get your hand in easily, so there is no need to pour them out. A great advantage.

They are tarnished so can't use them. They damage the fabric!
