In a word scalping. Amazon makes a buttload of $$$ from their sellers who scalp collectibles, and the manufacturers dont care. Do yourself a favor and start pre-ordering stuff from Hasbro Pulse, Entertainment Earth or Big Bad Toystore. At some they don't charge you until it's shipped. You can pre-order from Amazon sometimes too, but they will often cancel that pre-order & then direct you back to one of their scalpers. Be smart and think ahead. Watch for pre-orders released up to a year before they are sold.
