Zotos Quantum Extra Body Acid Permanent Unisex Treatment 1 Application

UPDATE 4/10/2022: After living with the initial perm 7 months, I discovered that on the really thin/finest areas on my scalp, namely the crown, the ends got just a bit “crispy.” Nothing an iron wouldn’t smooth out and not brittle enough to break, but even so… When I gave myself another perm a few weeks ago, I reduced the processing time from 20 down to 15 minutes, and the difference is noticeable. Much better result on the really thin/fine areas, and the overall curl is just as good. For those of you with normal to thick hair, full 20 minute processing time is probably just fine. For those of us with finer & thinner hair, 15 minutes is gold. ORIGINAL REVIEW 8/1/2021: I have very fine hair, so I have to be careful with my product choices. I gave myself a perm today using the Zotos Quantum Extra Body Acid Perm. So far, so good… I will come back and update again after a few weeks of washing & styling. I didn’t want tight curls—just loose natural curls, so I chose all purple rods. I also purchased end papers, cotton roll, and some long plastic rolling picks to feed through the roller bands. (Roller picks are a must for me to prevent sagging and weird roller marks on my thinning crown. If you have normal or thick hair, this may not be a problem for you.) The instructions on the inside of the box were basic, but easy to follow. (Even though I’ve watched stylists perm my hair dozens of times over the years, I also watched a couple of videos on YouTube to get tips from people who have already done this.) First big key to a good perm is getting your hair super clean. I used a clarifying shampoo, and did not use any conditioner or other products at all in my hair after shampooing, then I combed it out with a nice wide-tooth comb to avoid breakage. NOTE: I suspect some people who didn’t get a good result may have accidentally used conditioner or something after shampooing? Hard to say without asking, but it’s something I have seen happen with other people before. Next big key to a good perm is definitely how you roll the hair, so I put on my “patience hat” and really took my time. Also, I kept a little spray bottle of water handy so I could re-dampen each section as needed. (Hair is easier to roll and absorbs the solution better when it’s damp.) I left the waving solution + activator on for the full 20 minutes before rinsing (rollers still in) and gently patting dry. Then I applied the neutralizer and let that sit for about 10 minutes before carefully removing the rollers and rinsing my hair one final time. I’ll wait at least 48 hours before washing, per the instructions (and past experience with salon perms). My initial impression? It actually came out a little better than the perms my ex-stylist used to give me. (See photos) The curls feels softer, and my hair isn’t borderline fried. I now suspect she was using something too harsh for my hair. I’m so happy that I finally worked up the courage to give myself a perm at home. Getting a better result than she did has given me a lot of confidence AND it will save me a ton of money in years to come.

I have ordered this perm twice. It works well with my hair and I like them. The only problem I have had is the second time I ordered one some of the solution had leaked out of the bottle. They should put a seal on the bottle.

IDK - this is my 3rd purchase and have always had good results. Honestly I think it depends more on your hairdresser perhaps than the product, but for the price, and "non smelly" part, it gets my repeat order.

Used grey rods, which are larger and designed for more of a body wave, and following directions it came out very nice. I purchased a 2nd one for myself and just received a couple days ago, which I will be using over the weekend when I have time. Although we each have 2 different textures of hair, the product states 20mins for all. Gave perm on my non-dyed and non-bleached hair which had a chemical reaction. During processing, product began to heat up on my scalp before plastic cap added on hair. Perm gradually became less hot, after saturating hair, so able to give it the recommended 20 mins with cap. Rinsed & neutralized per instructions but upon removing rods the hair barely held the curl. My short hair is neck length so there's not sufficient hair weight to pull curl flat. After air dry, it was straw like and difficult to run large tooth comb thru so I didn't. Rewet to comb smooth but still dried the same. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RECOMMENDATION after 2 purchases: For me, it was a 50/50 good AND bad experience. One perm worked, one didn't. Based on feedback, the odds are you'll receive a good product. I've had perms in past so unknown why this time was different. I don't have colored or bleached hair and I don't take any medication. In my case it could have been a bad batch or older product, it's really unknown. I wouldn't let my experience sway to not purchase as it's personal for each person. Good Luck and hope this review helped.

By far the best perm I have ever used. I was looking for body, not curl, and this perm delivered . I am old enough to remember , right before school started, going to the “ beauty parlor” with my mother and getting the perm where they plugged the curlers in your hair into the wall and you sat for what seemed like hours. So, I have had a lot of perms in my lifetime. This one is the best!

Package all crunched and damaged . Haven’t used the perm yet but the bootlegs seem ok

Second time perming my hair and first time with this brand and I am much more pleased with this brand as it is cheaper and less intense. The other brand I use burned my forehead and this one did not even though some leaked and fell in my skin. I am very happy with the results and I followed the instructions which were easy and straightforward. My hair probably didn’t turn out as even and professional as if I were to pay hundreds of dollars at a salon, but for around 2 hours worth of work and $8 I can’t complain. My hair is very straight and adding texture to it is worth it. You will need the other tools such as the rods and papers and cotton roll but they’re very inexpensive and if you want to perm in the future it becomes cheaper. Overall, I am very pleased and I will reorder when it is time to perm my hair again! Also need to note that you can’t wash your hair for at least 48 hours after your perm so plan accordingly, and it does have a nasty smell but this brand isn’t that bad, just work in a ventilated area. Lastly I would recommend you order a silk cap to sleep in as it will reduce frizz and keep your perm from drying out! Good luck!
